FIVE reasons why Arsenal should sign this Barca ace

|

Alexis SanchezUdinese’s sporting director Fabrizio Larini recently stated that Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez should join Arsenal if he decides to leave the La Liga giants at the end of the season.

And with The Gunners looking to reinforce their forward line next season, many among the Arsenal fans and legends would deem Sanchez as a great signing for the north London club.

Well here are FIVE reasons why I think Arsenal should sign the former Udinese star:

1. Hard to handle

1. The Chilean possesses great movement, making his trademark diagonal runs from the wing towards the edge of the box which allows his team-mates, particularly the full-backs, to join the attack by dragging opposition defenders out of position. Sanchez would certainly feel at home if he were to join Arsenal this summer, as he would be encouraged by Arsene Wenger to utilize his movement to full effect.

2. We need a traditional winger on our books

We could do with a pacey, skilful, two-footed winger on our books, as I don’t think we have a player, besides possibly Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who likes to run at opposition full-backs. Sanchez would certainly offer us this, thus adding another dimension to our forward line.

3. Versatility

The 24-year-old is a very versatile individual. Although primarily he is a winger by trade, Sanchez can play anywhere along the forward line, meaning he would give us options upfront, something we could do with. He has played as the lone-striker for Barcelona in the past, though this has come when the Catalan club are looking to run down the clock (this very rarely occurs) or tire their opponents, using Sanchez’s work-rate and physical attributes to great use.

4. Add creativity to the line-up

Apart from Jack Wilshere and mainly Santi Cazorla, Arsenal still lack creativity. Sanchez has created 32 goal scoring opportunities in all competitions for Barcelona so far this season and his ingenuity would go along way to stop the trophy rot at The Emirates next season.

5. Show intention

Signing the Chile international would ultimately show the big boys of the Premier League, and of course Europe, that The Gunners mean business. A big-name player like Sanchez signing for us could also lead to other high-profile players joining the club.
