Should this man aim to become Arsenal’s new Alex Song?

|

Aaron RamseyWe have reached that point of the season where player performances are looked at very closely. One player in particular that I have paid a little more attention to in the past few weeks is Aaron Ramsey.

Before his horrific injury, the Wales international was on course to be a better player than Jack Wilshere. Since then, his performances in the wide right and attacking midfield positions have fallen short of what is desired at times.

As a result, fans were left frustrated with the Welshman’s displays – myself included. But looking at our last four games or so, in which Ramsey’s taken up what appears to be a defensive midfield role, I think he may have finally found his calling in the side. Sure he may not have the strength to win balls, but his ability to read play, tenacity and determination are a vital set of traits for that particular role. He may not be as good as we’d like but some of his recent performances in the DM position are showing signs of improvement. Considering his age, he can only get better, but only if he continues to play week in, week out. So I suggest he keeps playing in this position.

It would be good to see another defensive midfielder come in in the summer, even though we have Abou Diaby back. But let’s face it – he can barely put a decent run of games together considering he picks up injuries like no mans business.

I am a fan of Ramsey and to be honest I’d like to see him progress in that new role that Arsene Wenger has put him in, especially if he continues to impress. So I say get him on the training ground and work on the areas of his game that he is lacking in.

It would be considerably cheaper for us in the long-term and give him more of a chance to be a permanent fixture in the side.

Only time will tell if he will be successful in his new role.

Typical of Arsenal fans, always quick to oil up the ‘hype machine’ for average players, and I don’t get the whole Ramsey defensive midfield love up,I’ve watched all his matches in the new position and I can’t remember him breaking up any important attack or winning any sort of challenge, the only thing he’s doing better as compared to before is he’s not giving away the ball as sheepishly as he used to,and I think he’s finally realised he’s not the British Ronaldinho…

Its obvious we Arsenal fans are in need of an hero in a squad devoid of any, last season it was RVP,but he’s gone now,so we’ll make one of any player that can string 2 good passes together, hence the Ramsey love up….

A lot of people forget quickly how Arsene’s way of doing things, I remember King Henry in his first two seasons in Arsenal colours how messed up he was when wenger shifted into striking role, how mediocre he was then but he later became arsenal all great and highest goalscorer for now, baSically what I am saying is that I see Ramsey surpassing viera in that role.

    Zaidovski…

…fans like you are the reason why none of our players have any confidence.

We are one of the worst supported clubs in the country.

Stop getting on the players backs and they might gain some confidence.

It is not coincidence that we’ve improved recently, and, there has been less booing in the crowd.

Booing is a stupid thing to do in the long run, because, even though it might make you feel better in the short term it will make you feel worse in the long run because all the players will lose confidence because of the booing, and, then end up losing another game.

We can’t afford to lose another game, so, let’s start supporting our club properly.
