Gremio want to sign Andre Santos but only have until Tuesday to do so.
The 29-year-old left-back has struggled to settle at Arsenal since his move from Fenerbahce two years ago and has been criticized by The Emirates faithful for his poor performances for the side.
Santos has started just three Premier League games for The Gunners and it appears Arsene Wenger has also lost faith and patience with the Brazilian after signing Nacho Monreal from Malaga on winter deadline day.
Santos looks highly likely to depart The Emirates in the summer, but Gremio want to try and land the Brazil international before Tuesday in order to register him for this season’s Copa Libertadores.
‘Andre Santos is one of our interests. We talked with Arsenal, but there is nothing certain. It is a very difficult negotiation.’
Wenger signing Monreal, after learning Kieran Gibbs will be out until April, to me indicates Santos has become surplus to requirements at the club.
The fact is Santos is not good enough for Arsenal, his performances in the past and present back my claim up, and I think Wenger has finally realized this.
If he is not sold to Gremio by Tuesday then I expect him to be offloaded at the end of the season.
