Ghirardi insists Arsenal target could leave Parma

Ishak BelfodilArsenal target Ishak Belfodil could be sold in the summer, according to Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi.

The Gunners were linked with a move for the forward during the January transfer window but Arsene Wenger opted to steer clear of the 21-year-old.

However, despite signing for Parma last summer for €2.5 million, Belfodil could well be on his way out of the Serie A club, with Ghirardi uncertain about many of his players futures in the summer, including that of Belfodil’s.

He was quoted on talkSPORT saying:

‘We decided that we wouldn’t sell any of our best players in January.’

‘We’re delighted with the offers we received, but we never thought of selling.’

He added:

‘Sales in June? We’ll think about that, but there is plenty of time. Our players agree on the project in place here so we are happy to keep them.’

Belfodil started his senior career at Lyon in 2009. He spent three seasons at the Ligue 1 club before being loaned out to Bologna for a short period in 2012. Since signing for Parma in June 2012, the Algerian forward has netted seven goals in 22 appearances in all competitions for the I Crociati.
