Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal CAN pip Manchester City for second place.
Despite poor results against Blackburn in the FA Cup and Bayern Munich last week, The Gunners managed to overcome a struggling Aston Villa side on Saturday and currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League, nine points behind Roberto Mancini’s side.
And with 11 games left to play – with only Spurs away and Manchester United at home being the only ‘big’ games on Arsenal’s fixture list (no disrespect to the other nine clubs), Wenger reckons second place is not out of reach.
When asked about the battle for fourth, the Frenchman said:
‘I’m not sure it will only be a fight with Tottenham. I’m not sure the other places are not reachable.
‘Chelsea are just ahead and even Manchester City is not out of reach. It could be a tight fight until the end.’
I love to see Wenger aiming high and second place is certainly not out of our reach, especially when you take a look at our remaining games and City’s.
However, I think he and the side should focus more on finishing fourth or even third and see where the rest of the season takes us.
If we do manage to finish second then it will undoubtedly be a great achievement from Wenger’s ‘worst’ side in his 17 year tenure.

Wenger is so full of shit. There is no chance Man City are going to drop enough points for us to get into 2nd. I think we will finish in the top four by the skin of our teeth but top two is beyond us.

Wenger is killing d club, he shuold please for God sake sign a defensive midfeder for us, he is just too stingy. You can see all d spur players are started beating there cheat and sure of beating arsenal to it this season.
Might as well get over the tottenham game first and then see what happens afterwards.If we can do spurs then we have a week off in order to plan our face-saving mission to munich and then we can concentrate on finishing as high up the league as possible.On an aside spurs may as well enjoy this year because once bale goes they might encounter problems winning games like mondays
