AZ star rules out move to Arsenal

|

Adam MaherDespite being advised by his manager Gertjan Verbeek to join Arsenal when he leaves AZ Alkmaar in the summer, Adam Maher insists he won’t be signing for Arsene Wenger’s side anytime soon.

The 19-year-old has a £8.5 million price-tag on his head and despite real interest from PSV, with the Dutch outfit failing to secure his services in the previous transfer window, Maher states he will be on his way out of the AFAS Stadion at the end of the season.

The Holland international told NUSport:

‘In the summer I expect there will be a realistic bid. It is certain that I will be leaving.’

However, when asked if The Emirates is a realistic destination in the summer, Maher replied:

‘I have already said that I do not want to go. I want a good stay in the Netherlands, at least another two to three years – I am only 19.’

Maher then went on to say that a move to Ajax or PSV would be best for him:

‘PSV is a nice club, but on the other hand I live in Amsterdam. Last summer and last winter I indicated I want to go to PSV, but PSV was the only club that wanted to sign me. But I can also play for Ajax [too].’

Maher has been with AZ since the age of 10 and broke into the first-team in 2010. He has since made a total of 77 appearances in all competitions, finding the net 18 times and bagging 12 assists as well.
