Who’d be in your Arsenal XI to take on Liverpool tonight?

|

Arsene WengerArsenal have somewhat turned a corner following their 2-1 away defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League 10 days ago.

Since that loss, Arsene Wenger’s side hammered The Hammers 5-1 at The Emirates and then managed to beat Brighton to make it through to the Fifth Round of the FA Cup.

Although our defence still looks shaky at times, it is, however, being overlooked thanks to the help of Olivier Giroud, Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott. The French striker has netted four goals in his last two games taking his season total so far to 13. Podolski continues to be a threat down the left and chipping in with a few goals when it matters, while Walcott has scored in the last three consecutive games for The Gunners.

Next on our fixture list is Liverpool tonight at The Emirates. We currently sit in sixth place, four points off the Spuds who occupy fourth spot, and if we want to catch them and have a chance of finishing in the top four this season then we must beat Liverpool and go on a long unbeaten run.

Arsene Wenger rested a few key players against Brighton on the weekend, such as Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla (although the first three names came on), and no doubt all four of them will start against Liverpool tonight.

Thomas Vermaelen is back in contention while Mikel Arteta and Francis Coquelin are still short of match fitness.

So what should our starting line-up look like?

Here is how I see Wenger setting out the team:

Szczesny

Sagna          Mertesacker          Vermaelen          Gibbs

Ramsey

Wilshere         Cazorla

Walcott                                                           Podolski

Giroud

I would personally like to see Carl Jenkinson start but Wenger will opt for experience with Bacary Sagna.

Gibbs will replace Andre Santos at left-back, while Vermaelen will certainly come back into the side.

Aaron Ramey will surely continue playing in that holding midfield role following two good performances in that position, with Wilshere and Cazorla playing just ahead of the Welshman.

Top three pick themselves, scoring 40 goals combined so far this season.

So, who do you guys reckon should start for us tonight against Liverpool?

Koscielny and Diaby in, Mertesacker and Ramsey out.

Suarez, Sterling, Sturridge all quick, all like to run with the ball, Mertesacker will struggle against that.

Diaby dominated the Liverpool midfield at Anfield, so makes sense to play him again. Gives us a presence in there too

Jenkinson for sagna, diaby for ramsey koscielny is too rash to be of any use against quick forwards

Think that team is spot on..bring diaby on if we’re a couple up or feel we’re being overrun in midfield but think midfield of cazorla, Ramsey n Wilshire have the ability to damage Liverpool..Walcotts pace will cause skirtel and agger problems and can see him coming into middle…just hope the defence doesn’t let us down!!
