Arsene Wenger has recently admitted that the club are interested in signing Schalke’s Lewis Holtby.
The 22-year-old’s contract at the Bundesliga club expires in the summer and is set to leave Germany for the Premier League, with Spurs also believed to be keen on the German international.
Liverpool and Everton have also been linked to Holtby but it seems The Gunners are the frontrunners for his signature after Wenger sent scouts to watch him in action this season.
Quoted on talkSPORT.com, Wenger said:
‘We have looked at Holtby, yes.’
‘We have played against him, and our scouts are kept on alert and the quality of our scouting is linked with that.’
But would Holtby be a good signing for Arsenal? I believe so.
The German has great technique, skill and ability, and I think he would suit our style of play perfectly. Plus, he would be joining us for nothing. Can’t really go wrong.
I believe he would flourish under the guidance of Wenger, providing of course the Frenchman plays him in his correct position.
Now all we need is a strong, mobile holding midfielder to come in and add some solidarity to our side.

Once every 5years they make the Champs league. Once every 20 years they win a cup. Once every 100 years they manage to finish 1st in the league. Every season we have to remind them who’s town this is.. Whenever I’m feeling down i just think, spuds have a have a full view of the Emirates Stadium when going to watch a sleepy match at the shack hart lane. What could be worse

This article is out of date. As Holtby has gone to the tiny totts, and Ba has signed for Chelsea. Apparently, we were interested in these two players. Whilst I have always been a Wenger supporter, I am not very happy so far with our transfer activity. I hope the Board and Wenger realize the supporters expect a top class signing. If Wenger and the Board have been lying to supporters and are going to pull their usual tricks, they should be ready for a revolution from the fans. As we cannot continue to have inferior players joining the club, whilst at the same time, the club are making huge financial rewards at our expense.
We are a football club, and not a business!

Everybodys signing players and arsenal is only doing window shopping. Our beloved club is like a poor man walking through the mall with his son making promises to his son that one day he will have everything his heart desires but we all know the reality. Wenger wont buy more than 1 player and adrian lopez is crap lets be honest even the stats dont lie how is he gona make a difference in our team when he hardly even gets game time at his current club.

Wenger was asked has he looked at Holtby….he answered yes….he looked, didn’t feel he was good enough…didn’t make a move…so he went to the smaller less successful club in NL.He didn’t miss out,as he didn’t go in for him.Not a bad player, but not what we need.Hes on par with Ramsay in my opinion. No other tops clubs where interested,Spurs just jumped the gun, because they thought there were,as that’s there transfer tactics of the Levy era.

let me help you here……
please don’t make the mistake of thinking you are a NL club
your opinion is questionable – and that is being kind
hes should really be he’s
Bayern Munich are ‘in my opinion’ a top club
there transfer tactics, should really be their transfer tactics
Levy is taking his Club forward – is your Board?

Good business for Rottenham but luckily we have a good young left footed midfielder called Wilshere.I see MVila is casting around for a new club why not give him a go as we can’t rely on Diaby staying fit
