Jose Mourinho is no stranger to controversy – as the past proves – and his latest statement will no doubt rub the Arsenal faithful the wrong way.

The Real Madrid boss reckons Tottenham will pip Arsenal to a top four finish this season because Andre Villas-Boas’ side have been more consistent and in better form than Arsene Wenger’s Gunners.

He told The Sun:

‘Tottenham has a fantastic squad, some brilliant players – some of the best in the Premier League.’

He added:

‘And now they have found consistency in their performances.

‘So far this season Arsenal have been up and down – they’re good and not so good.

‘They are not in the top four but they have always finished in the top four so you can say “Why not again this season?’

‘But it will be tough. They will be fighting with Tottenham, Chelsea and Everton so it will be very difficult.’

We currently sit in fifth place in the Premier league, five points behind Spurs, who occupy third position, but have a game in hand over them.

There is still 18 games left to play and although Spurs have been more consistent than us (like Mourinho states) this season, we will be there or thereabouts come May.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on the matter and it will be a difficult journey ahead. However, I believe if we can go on a good run of form and results and possibly add to our current squad, we will challenge and hopefully for the club’s sake attain a top four finish.

Mourinho ought to have faced the inconsistency currently plaguing his team than to bother about Arsenal. The flies always follow the sores carrier so Mourinho must back his former understudy and successor. If Arsenal is the benchmark of Tothenham then it is good and mind you for more than 15 years they had struggled only to fall towards the end. It should also be noted that Arsenal once knocked out Real in the UCL so he should keep his peace. If Wenger ever has half of the talents at Mourinho’s disposal, he would perform wonders. If Arsene Wenger is having problem due to poor investment in the team then he’s better than he who is having problem in a team where the players are world class with mouth watering remunerations

He see what is the truth. Wenger has lost the Midas Touch!

It’s true that last season Spurs had a huge lead and blew it. But the factors are different this year. There are no distractions, and their better players are coming back from injury. Arsenal are historically a bigger club, but how is it that Holtby, a very much sought-after player went to Spurs and not Arsenal? This would NEVER happen even two years ago. They would pick Arsenal every time. Arsenal would win out every time. I feel a change in the wind, my friends. I think we’re seeing a new dominant team emerge in North London. Unless Wenger can pull something off this January, I don’t see Arsenal finishing above Tottenham, game in hand or otherwise.
