Should Wenger answer this Argentine’s call?

|

GagoFernando Gago is ready to quit Valencia to join a club with a ‘big reputation’, according to Spanish publication Marca.

The Argentine midfielder has struggled to settle in at Valencia since his move from Real Madrid last summer, and is looking to reignite his career elsewhere.

This news couldn’t have come at a better time for The Gunners, as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his side before the January transfer window closes on Thursday.

But would the 26-year-old be an ideal acquisition for Arsenal?

To be honest, we could do a whole lot worse.

Gago is an accomplished midfielder with a lot of experience under his belt for both club and country, making over 100 appearances for Real Madrid and 43 for Argentina.

The Argentine possesses great vision, mobility and tenacity, and would most definitely suit Wenger’s football philosophy at The Emirates.

Gago would certainly be regarded as an astute signing by the club. However he is tied down to Valencia until 2016, meaning he may well cost a bit to acquire.

Gago over Mohamed Diame anyday.
