This news may interest Arsene Wenger – Younes Belhanda will be allowed to leave Montpellier for the right price. However, if the Frenchman wants to sign the Morroco international he will have to move fast as Tottenham are also keen on signing the attacking midfielder.

The 22-year-old was once linked with a move to The Emirates, with Wenger expressing his admiration for the player. But nothing transpired.

Belhanda, who has scored eight goals in 22 appearances for Montpellier, has apparently agreed terms with Fenerbahce. However, the two clubs are struggling to agree a fee. So if Wenger wants to bring him to Arsenal he will have to make his intentions known.

Montpellier president Louis Nicollin is willing to let Belhanda, but rejected an initial offer of £6 million plus add-ons from Fenerbahce.

Nicollin wants to recoup around £12 million for the Moroccan:

‘I will let him leave, and I think he wants to leave as well. If they rise to €15m, everything will go through.’

Following a productive title-winning campaign last season, Montpellier rated Belhanda at €60 million. However, they are now eager to sell their star player, whose current contract expires at the end of next season.

So should Arsenal enter the race for Belhanda’s signature?

If so, is he worth forking out £12 million for the creative midfielder?

Personally, I don’t think he is needed following the summer arrival of Santi Cazorla from Malaga.

Though the price is reasonable, I just think he wouldn’t add anything to our side. Plus, he is well overrated!

Wenger should steer clear of Belhanda in my opinion and look at the areas of the team that actually need strengthening this month.
