Napoli are preparing a move for out-of-favour Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone, according to talkSPORT.

The Serie A side are looking to replace 35-year-old Morgan De Sanctis and have listed Mannone as one of their prime targets.

The 24-year-old featured for The Gunners at the start of the current campaign – 13 times – while Wojciech Szczesny was recovering from an ankle injury.

However, since Szczesny’s return to fitness and the first-team, the Italian shot-stopper has rarely been seen and was previously linked with a move away from The Emirates at the start of the season.

Mannone, who spent parts of last season out on loan at Championship side Hull City, has managed to appear just 23 times for Arsenal since his arrival from Atalanta in 2005, and could well be tempted to move to Napoli if reports prove true.

Should Mannone make the move, Arsene Wenger will almost certainly have to sign a replacement, with Wojciech Szczesny his only real option in the goalkeeping department.

QPR’s Julio Cesar is reportedly on the Frenchman’s radar.
