After much speculation in the media and Twitter, Hannover have finally confirmed they are interested in signing Johan Djourou this January.

The Swiss centre-back has fallen out-of-favour with Arsene Wenger, making only two appearances for The Gunners so far this season, and is struggling immensely to feature on a regular basis with Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker all ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, the 25-year-old could revive his career in Germany with Hannover chief Martin Kind admitting his interest in Djourou.

Kind was qouted on SkySports.com saying:

‘I am able to confirm that we are very interested in bringing Johan Djourou to the AWD-Arena.

‘He is on our short list of names and there have been some concrete talks with Arsenal going on.’

However, Hannover manager Jorg Schmadtke says any potential move for Djourou this winter would only be a short-term one for now, as the defender is contracted to The Gunners until 2015:

‘We do intend to loan the player first until the end of the season and we will make a decision on his future.’

In my opinion, any deal we can get for Djourou this January would be viewed as a good one, and I’m sure many of you will agree with this.

He is one of the players at our club who is not thought of anymore and would not be missed if he decides to depart this month.

Besides we could do with him off our books even until the end of the season.

According to Google he earns 2.6 million pounds a year which is 50K a week.

I find that hard to believe.

LET THIS DEADWOOD LEAVE THE EMIRATE. HOW COULD YOU BE PAYING FOR THIS PLAYERS YET ZERO RETURNS.

Bye bye Djourou. Let him go on a free – if Hannover only want him on a short term loan I imagine there will be others out there interested in getting him off our books.

Nothing against the guy, simply surplus and effectively now deadwood.
