‘I think Arsenal is a perfect club for him’

|

Adam MaherAZ Alkmaar manager Gertjan Verbeek believes Adam Maher would flourish at Arsenal.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who has scored five goals in 18 league outings so far this season for AZ, has caught the eye of PSV and is also regarded as one of the brightest young stars in the Eredivisie.

But PSV are unwilling to meet AZ’s £8.5 million asking price for Maher and Verbeek reckons the Moroccan-born Holland international should look to join Arsenal – at the end of the season – to develop and learn under the guidance of Arsene Wenger:

‘I think Arsenal is a perfect club for him. With Arsene Wenger, who worked with young talents like him before.

‘He can get the most out of himself at Arsenal. Look at Robin van Persie, he joined Arsenal at a young age and look what he achieved.’

It’s all good for Maher’s boss to urge the youngster to join The Gunners in the summer, but would Wenger be in interested in him?

He definitely fits the mould that Wenger looks for in a player. He’s quick, has great technical ability, skill and great off the ball movement.

It, however, remains to be seen if Wenger will register his interest in Maher.
