Here are my Arsenal player ratings from this afternoons 2-2 draw with Swansea City at The Liberty Stadium (feel free to argue or agree with me).

Wojciech Szczesny – Made a few decent saves in the first-half and only really had to pick up the ball (twice) from the back of his net in the second. 6/10

Bacary Sagna – Getting worse and worse with every game that passes by. Lacks conviction, desire and looks like he’s forgotten how to play football. Poor marking led to Swansea’s second. Should be dropped from the side to recompose himself. Rubbish. 1/10

Laurent Koscielny – Did ok, but struggled to handle Danny Graham at times. Positioning wasn’t up to standard at times but was determined throughout. Bagged an assist. 5/10

Per Mertesacker – His lack of pace caused us a few problems today, with Graham easing past him in the first-half to have a great chance on goal. The German was then outwitted by Michu in the second-half which led to Swansea’s first. 4.5/10

Kieran Gibbs – Got forward well and always looked to overlap. Positioning needs improving but in general the England international had a good game. Lashed in a superb volley following a lovely one-two with Giroud to put Arsenal 2-1 ahead. 6/10

Mikel Arteta – Passed the ball around well and always wanted the ball. Was tenacious throughout. Man of the Match for me. 6.5/10

Jack Wilshere – Had a fairly poor first-half but stepped up his game in the second. His passing was slightly off the mark today but his determination and drive to win never faded. Didn’t stamp his authority on the game as he usually does. 6/10

Santi Cazorla – Didn’t see him touch the ball in the first 45 minutes. In the second-half the Spaniard got more involved, passed the ball around well and ventured forward looking to create. Sadly, he failed to deliver. 5/10

Aaron Ramsey – Got booked early on and to be fair tried. However, the Welshman didn’t do anything noticeable in his unfamiliar role as a winger. Was substituted in the 72nd minute. 4/10

Theo Walcott – Was deployed on the right wing and always looked to cut inside to help out Giroud upfront. Got forward well but his service to the front-man was poor and looked uncomfortable being played ‘out of position’. 4/10

Olivier Giroud – Held the ball up well throughout and worked the Swansea goalkeeper on a number of occasions in the second-half. Needed better service from the wingers. Set up Gibbs’ goal with a lovely chip through ball. 6/10

SUBS:

Lukas Podolski – Played only 18-20 minutes but the German managed to score Arsenal’s equalizer eight minutes after coming on. Got forward well. 6/10

Disagree with Sagna, feel he did play badly but 1/10? You must really hate him.

    • Lobster says:

Yeah, he definitely has it in for him. There’s no way Sagna was atleast 4x worse than everyone else on the pitch.

  • the king says:

    it was a good game
but why didnt we play the first half like the second ?…we always start slow it always taken us to goal a goal down before we wake up….and bit harsh on ramsey, he was a decent game for him in all honesty didnt do much wrong worked hard.

but Giroud good player but just no real class playing in the center foward, Giroud best position is coming from the bench in the last 20 mins.

    • Stuart says:

” a bit harsh on Ramsey”….. Are you sure ???
He completely blocks up our attack. It seems he can’t even run in a straight line without tripping himself up. The commentator today said it took longer than thought to recover from a broken leg. Fair enough but the first team is not he place for rehabilitation, send him on loan to Plymouth Argyll or somewhere. A bit harsh but right know he is not good enough to wear the shirt. A pub question ‘ Can you name the last game Arsenal won when Ramsey started ?.

      • Lobster says:

The most difficult game of the season. Away to the champions, where ramsey was quite superb

      • WoodyD says:

For me Ramsey outshone Cazorla. Again played out of position but had desire and looked very interested. Would have liked to see Wenger switch the two or substituted Cazorla for Rosicky.

        • Amoedo says:

It’s strange why AW insists on a player like Ramsey. He’s not up to arsenal level. He cant’t pass, can’t drrbble, can’t defend… Every game arsenal starts with him it seems we have 10 players on the pitch. Receiving the ball and pass backwards it’s not brilliant , mature or reasonable…. It’s just lack of ability and creativity to play in a offensive team like arsenal… Why not rosicky? Or even podolsky? Or chambo? Or arshavin? We have at least four better players than Ramsey…. I feel pity for this guy. He’s a hard worker, but lacks tallent….. A wondefull player for welsh team…. But not for arsenal or any top quality team

      • Tony West says:

Yeah u r right…Anytym ramsey starts a game..Arsenal doesnt win…If u date back last season when arsenal won 7games in a row…ramsey didnt start any, it was rosicky who played and in the 8th game against QPR, ramsey started an we lost 2-1….Wenger must be datind ramsey’s mother for him to include him in the line up when we have better players on th bench…This man must be questioned…I always give up anytime i see ramsey start for arsenal…

  • Gooner4life says:

Look at the result today, AFC are carrying more deadwood Ramsey etc, etc, There are NO leaders at 2-1, the very first thing you do as a pro is take possession of the ball straight away to see the game out.Sneider class, pay him a sign on fee off 4-5mil, and 100k wk,as long as he is not injured has class and leadership and can mentor wilshere, get rid of ramsey, Diaby(shame), bring in also, M’villa,Lopez or a on form striker, defender M’waipa kochelney is NOT a leader at the back.

  • brad says:

I think u need to watch the match again – both goals arteta could have done something

Sagna was ok neither goal was his fault

    Rambo was a bit shit

Apparently walcott wants more money lol

  • Gooner4life says:

    Fellow Gooners,

Also its so obvious that the stupidty of the board to push through the RVP sale onto Wenger, this has brushed off on Wenger, he is losing is midas touch no ambition, look world class player like sneider at 28 pay him sign on this would give a statement, mentor wilshere the youngdters on HOW to have a winning mentality.Last chance saloon for Wenger, if doesn’t bring in m’villa,m’pwia, on form striker and possibly sneider!!, i am voting with my feet not going to Emirates, it is SO obvious on the pitch there is NO belief that stems from Wenger he is also losing his tactics albeit we don’t have the quality to play how he would like, its embarrassing gooners vote with your feet, BOARD out they are MAINLY to blame!!

    • Mike says:

I agree 100% wenger needs to buy quality players, m’villa or Capone, m’bia from France plus Lopes or David villa and a quality goalie. Then pay off the dead wood to lessen the wage bill..!

  • brad says:

girou was my pick for motm

  • Olarayz (@11Rayz) says:

Sagna was poor because Walcott abandoned his wing distracting Giroud in CF and Wenger didn’t have much to say about it. Anytime Ramsey starts especially on the wings he keeps confusing Cazorla , Arteta & Wilshere in midfield, and they end up not playing well, yet Mr-Know-All-Wenger keeps playing him ahead of better options. Wenger has nothing more to offer Arsenal, enough is enough! Wenger out now!

    • WoodyD says:

Agreed. Walcott was a mess today and lacked sense of positioning. Clogged play in the middle, didn’t cover the wing and left Sagna exposed.

  • Steve says:

Correct correct correct, Sagna has either lost desire to play for ARSENAL or his ability to play football is lost. SELL NOW take the money. Let young Jenksie show how enthusiasm to play for the club can spread urgency into the rest of the team.
Lead from the front COME ON THE GUNNERS.

  • kelvin says:

ur rating s way off mark, sagna only nids a rest or two. And gibbs seemd lik d MOTM t me

  • nick in portugal says:

1/10 for Sagna come on? And 4/10 for Ramsey, did you see the cross for Giroud (wasted)? That was er Ramsey, played a great ball to Walcott in the first half which Theo wasted. Is being played out of position, he’s a central midfielder (right footed) so play him on the left wing. Thanks Arsene!
