Ex-Gunner says club needs defensive reinforcements, not David Villa

David VillaFormer Gunner believes should focus on signing defensive players rather than .

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the 31-year-old Barcelona striker, with the Spaniard’s future up in the air at present. One day, Villa has a price-tag on his head, reportedly £15 million, and the next Barcelona say he is not for sale.

But while many Gooners would like to see Villa come in before the transfer deadline tonight, Robson has urged Wenger to sign a defensive midfielder and a centre-back instead.

He recently told talkSPORT’s Sports Bar:

‘I’m not sure David Villa is the player Arsenal need. They need a better defensive midfield player and they need a centre-half.’

For once, I actually agree with Robson. I don’t necessarily think we need to bring in Villa – we have enough options up-front and they are starting to fire on all cylinders.

I too would like to see Wenger sign a defensive midfielder and another centre-back. Although I don’t see it happening, not today.

Wenger is a disgrace and should have been sacked years ago.

ANY interim manager could do better for the club.

Wenger only cares about himself and not the club, his fit of jealousy when Steve Bould received credit for transforming the defense at the start of yhe season was ridiculous and was only exceeded in farce by the subsequent sidelining of Bould and his training techniques.

Need more evidence on top of the 8 year trophy drought?
If you do you need help!

Who said we will get Villa? Why would he come to club like Arsenal?
Defender? And place him in a team that does not know what defending is?

    Victor Wanyama
    Marouanne Feilaini
    Capoue

Wenger has choices and the above are quality

I said at the beginning of this transfer window that Wenger will not make any signings as Wenger & the board are only about lining their pockets.

How a lying little piece if S** t Wenger can say there is no quality out there to improve the team???? Truly how many fans would agree with Wenger that Diaby, Santos, Ramsey, Mertesacker, Squilaci, Arshavin, Djorou, koscielny are world class & quality players???

Is he saying Mbiwa, Sissoko, capoue, Cavani, Wanyama, Lopez, lewandowski, huntelaar, demba ba, Feilaini, mvila, belhanda and many more which were available are not good enough to play amongst the names I mentioned earlier????

I never added Diame in the list as I feel he is nowhere near quality and if Wenger the tight fisted C**t signs anyone it will be Diame because of his cheap price. There are now reports the buyout clause for Diame is £7 million and if Wenger did if there’s a miracle decide to pay it I would be pissed as for an extra £3 million he can get Wanyama

But again the fans have been screwed and with the crappy defensive performances we have shown all season and last night against lfc its beyond belief that we the fans are letti g Wenger take the piss out of us like this season in season out

Who in their right mind would shell out 15m for a 31 year old. Even if it is David Villa.

“wenger out”, you are obsessed with what you read in the papers, obviously. Wenger went into a “fit of jealousy when Steve Bould received credit for transforming the defense”? Really? What is obvious is Wenger appointed Bould and can fire him, if he did feel threatened. Please try and comment in an informed and reasoned manner; you embarrass yourself with that comment as the buck stops with the Gaffer, whether good or bad.
