So it is 2013. Happy New Year to all reading this. Feel any different? Didn’t think so.
Anyways, about a week ago I put up a poll for all my readers to cast their vote on who was Arsenal’s player of the past year, and the results are in.
There were a number of candidates up for the award, including summer arrivals Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski, but only won Gunner could claim the prize.
And to be honest, I am a little surprised with the outcome of the result, and probably most of you will be as well.
Results showed that 43% of votes cast (635 in total) went to Cazorla, who has only been playing for The Gunners since August. Don’t get me wrong, he is a great player and has already stamped his mark on the club and indeed the Premier League, but he has only been with us for five months, coming into his sixth, that’s why I’m a little shocked.
In any case, the Spaniard was voted Gunnersphere’s Arsenal player of 2012, and well done to Santi for picking up the honour.
Mikel Arteta, who I believe was our best player last year, came in second place with 21% of the votes, while Theo Walcott followed closely behind with 16%.
4% of the votes went to Jack Wilshere, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, while Giroud and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got 2% each.
Six players got 1% each, while four didn’t get on the board.

Iam confuse. 2012 is about last season and this season.
It shows what kind of people voted if Van Persie was not voted for. The guy was the Golden boot and his goals got us a 3rd place finish in May of 2012. YOU KNOW, in 2012.
What’s all that about regarding Cazorla. Some great performances, but some below par ones too. Arteta or Van Persie had to be the only two in the running. Vermaelen being injured for the first half of 2012 takes him out the running, so that leaves only two horses in the race, yet a new boy with a few good performances won.
