Well Arsenal have missed out on another of their winter targets after Barcelona told Arsene Wenger and co. they have no chance of signing David Villa this month.
Arsene Wenger is apparently looking to bolster his attacking options after loaning out Marouane Chamakh to West Ham until the end of the season.
A number of strikers had been linked with a move to The Emirates this month, but they have either moved elsewhere or committed their future to their current club.
Villa has been tipped to make a move to the Premier League after falling out-of-favour at Barca. However, the Spanish club’s president Sandro Rosell insists the 31-year-old forward will not be leaving the Nou Camp anytime soon:
‘I completely rule out the transfer of Villa during the winter market.
‘He is ours and we need him. There is a lot of the season left.’
There you have it – another player Arsenal have missed out on.
We didn’t even bother with Demba Ba (for some strange reason). Klaas-Jan Huntelaar chose to stay with Schalke rather than join us, while Wenger is unwilling to fork out £14 million for Adrian Lopez. It’s a joke! And I can’t really pinpoint any other strikers out there which are available at the moment.
Prepare to see yet another very un-active January Gooners.

To be honest i am fed with going over the same old things every transfer times, Arsenal are buying everyone but finish up with no one and this one is heading the same way, they can’t even get Walcott to sign so how they expect to get other top players too sign.

Huh? Someone in your street has a car you like very much. You go up to the guy and ask if he wants to sell the car. The guy says that he car is not for sale. Have now missed out on the car?
Feel free to criticise Wenger with reasonable arguments, without being abusive obviously, but don’t come up with ridiculous stories like this.

Don’t be surprised Wenger doesn’t buy anyone. If the gunners drift out of the top 4,he shd go. If he’s smart he better get the guys who can give the senior team alift. If not,Arsenal shd thank him for his past services and start afresh with a new bloke before the decline becomes irreversible.

searching skilled expensive players, showing to richer clubs, buy the cheapest players, sell when they start to show their skills, compete on the pitch with less skilled players, (defeated or draw easily),that is it!
Do not forget that their ticket price is the most expensive of all clubs.; The wage structure for players is very low compared to Man united, Man city, Chelsea, even liver pool.
Amazing Paradox!!!

This can equally interpreted as negotiation, stop lots of clubs (probably Arsenal) from low balling for the striker.

John I agreed with what you said, its not right for someone to com out insulting Arsene Wenger because most people don’t know the polities involved in signing a player. The speculations will continue even if its lie. Pls let people be careful of the words they utter. GUNNERS4LIFE. The boys will awake to shook all Anti-Arsenal

Easy for a blogger to say the club should spend 14m here or there on a player they’ve most likely never seen play. I think Tony Merakli is deserving of a Ferrari and should ditch the 2008 Ford he’s currently driving. Not that I’m going to help him pay for it….

Just because he has said Villa isn’t going, doesn’t mean he isn’t going to go. How many times did Wenger say RVP wouldn’t leave and where is he?
You can’t trust everything you hear and read until after the transfer window. Every supporter of every club should know that, it’s common knowledge. Barely any managers come out and say “We’re selling our best player.” or something along the lines of that. It wouldn’t make sense for them to do.

Infact arsenal is just like an academy of other clubs. If he sold R.V.P, why cant he give walcott the money he wants coz he is doing well other than loosing him for only 10000pounds and yet they colllect much from expensive tickets?

why when other clubs want our great player we are quick to sell when we need anybody we become desparate and useless. we sold Rvp n song to thm n thy cant gt us Villa n Nani poor Wenger he never learns what hes left with is alot of phylosophies about Eurupean football n market he cant even gt Zaha. we need a new arsenal we have lost it i must admit even Swansea have taken over our style of play we need our arsenal back.

Song was sold for non-footballing reasons and vanPersie decided to bail out as now he has managed to stay fit for more than 5 minutes “our ambitions dont match his own”.Villa would be a great short term signing but domt panic over him just yet.As Rosell will admit ,everyone has their price.Anyway we dont desperately need a new striker,we need a fit Abou Diaby or failing that, someone to play in that role in order to shield our back four and balance our midfield
