Action is needed now!

It was always going to be a difficult day for in the game against Manchester City, given the way the team has been playing so far this season.

However, it was made almost impossible after just 10 minutes thanks to a stupid and senseless act by in bringing down with a tackle that would have won over fans at any Rugby League ground. The resulting red card reduced Arsenal to 10 men and within another 20 minutes, two goals, resulting from very poor defending, gifted City a lead they never looked like giving up.

It is true to say that Arsenal did play a lot better in the second-half but truthfully, the likelihood of them scoring one goal, never mind two or three, was never a possibility.

This was a vital three points lost in the battle to catch up with Spurs and Everton in the race to finish in fourth place in the Premier League. I have gone on record in previous seasons and said that Wenger needs to sign world-class players to have any chance of competing for the title or the cups, but here we are again watching a very average bunch of players performing very poorly week after week and still Wenger talks of confidence, poor refereeing, frozen pitches, blah, blah, blah.

Ivan Gazidis says Wenger has £70 million to spend if he finds the right players. But Wenger says he can’t find quality players, yet we watch Chelsea sign Ba for £7 million and he instantly scores two goals in his first game, having scored two the week before against which team? Yes Arsenal!!

Wenger has shown a total lack of respect for Arsenal fans when he says we want to be signed. Nobody that I know has ever called for Wenger to spend £50 million or more for a single player. If we have the money pay the going rate for quality players and stop being the miser and ending up with second rate players!

It’s now 15 days into January and no sign or solid rumours of any significant signings being close, despite the fact that all Arsenal fans and the press have all been calling for at least a defender, a defensive midfielder, another creative midfielder and a top class striker.

Why, Mr. Wenger, can’t you see that too? If you can, sign these players now so we have a chance to improve immediately.

Recent reports in the papers say that Barcelona’s David Villa could be had for £12 million now but Wenger is going to wait until the summer so he can get him at a reduced fee. I have no doubt, judging from his previous transfer dealings, that there is a lot of truth to this story. Arsenal now has Scrooge for a manager!

I have supported Arsenal since 1963 and have seen many ups and downs in the team’s fortunes in that time, but I have never felt as pessimistic about the club’s future as I do right now. Wenger has turned us into a laughing stock, especially after losing to Bradford! We are now a very ordinary team and unless something happens to improve the quality in the side, I can see nothing but a continuation of the current downward trend.

I think Wenger has done great things for the club but he has lost the ability to put fire in the bellies of the current crop of players and his tactics are so easy for all other teams in the league to counter that I feel it is time for someone with new ideas to take the manager’s job.

I do not believe there is no one out there who could do the job as some Wenger supporters would have you believe. Of course, would be the ideal choice for me but any experienced coach in Europe would jump at the chance to manage Arsenal and there would be plenty of suitable people who would put their names into the hat.

A fresh face with new ideas, different coaching techniques and different ways to get the best out of each player is what is needed now.

Nothing lasts forever and that applies to all football managers too, included!

If the Board wait much longer to pull the plug on Wenger’s time at Arsenal, the club may face a long and dismal future as disenchanted fans stay away, finances take a steep dip and the better players leave.

    Yeah sack the manager and bring in;
    Robert Manchini?
    Rafa Benitez
    AVB?
and let’s spend the £70M we’ve got and win the league. It’s so fucking simple.

Thank God, i have a real and truthful supporter in jeff bairbrother . I have been saying dis 4 quit a long time but most of the fans always critisize me of been anti-wenger, football of nowadays required so many thiings to make success. It requires DETERMINATION, CLASS, FINANCE, COMMITMENTS, TACTICS, DISCIPLINE, STABILITY, CONSISTENCY, LEADERSHIP, MANAGEMENT. 1- once all the players step on to the field of play, they should all determined to play together and have the believe dat they can win. 2- atleast as a team, we should be able to secure the services of three to four classic players in our team not to be depending on form every time as we all know dat class is permanent while form is temporary . 3 – as we all know, it takes money to get money but not to spend lavishly , we should be able to strength the team with the little fund dat is available once there is need to do so. 4 – the players should show up their commitment to win at all time . 5- coach should have different tactics depending on opponent u are to face or the qualities of the available players. 6 – the coach should be discipline enough with the players both on & off the pitch. 7- The management should avoid exodus of players every season. 8 -the team should play with good form consistently. 9- we should have enough leaders on the field to address the rest of the squad when the coach isn’t there . 10 – the management should know more on how the club can move forward . Thank’s everybody . Akeem Abdulkareem Lanre. Gunners till eternity.

first of all the Messi statement from Wenger was a joke. Its probably disrespectful to the always bitter arsenal fans who don’t get sarcasm.

“Barcelona’s David Villa could be had for £12 million now but Wenger is going to wait until the summer so he can get him at a reduced fee” <== didn't you hear the barca president saying that Villa is going nowhere in January? or is it Wenger's fault again on why he said that.

From Wenger's point of view, he is not going anywhere at least till summer 2014. The best you can hope for. Is Arsenal losing games, finishing outside the top four, thrashed by our rivals, then Wenger will leave at the end of this season. Then comes along this fresh face with new ideas, different coaching techniques and different ways to get the best out of each player who've had a traumatic season in their whole career, and will build the team to be better by signing quality players and getting rid of the young useless players. Wow instant success. We will even forget what Wenger did for the club for all these years.

    Platt fan,

I thought Wenger’s comment about Messi was the typical ‘Straw man’ argument. Its not the first time Wenger has intimated that Arsenal fans are not satisfied until he spends £50m on a player. Which given we had yet to break the 20m mark, is totally ridiculous and almost insulting the fans.

Personally I think he club could do better in terms of its PR with its fans/supporters, and not blame them for the teams fragility
If you’re happy with the present state of affairs at the club then fine mate, but there are many of us who are not.

Indeed action is needed now. Arsene is simply through with the positive and has turned to the negative. He is undoing all the good works he has by breaking negative records. I think, in my candid opinion, it is time for Le prof to leave. He has exhausted all his tactics. Arsene, please, leave now.
