Would this Bayern star fit the bill at Arsenal?

Arsene Wenger is keen to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo next month, according to Saturday’s Daily Mirror.

With Abou Diaby yet again sidelined through injury, Wenger has earmarked the 25-year-old Brazilian as a potential January signing to strengthen the midfield department.

Gustavo, who can play at left-back and centre-back, signed for the Bavarian giants in January 2011 from Hoffenheim for an undisclosed fee.

However, since his move to Bayern the Brazil international has made just over 50 appearances for the German outfit and, despite having two-years left to run on his existing contract, is reportedly in dispute with his manager, Jupp Heynckes, over not being a regular for the side.

The Mirror reports Wenger wants to add Gustavo to his squad if they can agree a move worth roughly £10 million.

Having seen him play on a few occasions in the Bundesliga, as well as the Champions League last season, I wouldn’t mind if he was acquired in January. I still believe we lack that physical presence in midfield and Gustavo would fit the bill in my opinion. He is hard-working, versatile, and tenacious, and, being a Brazilian, has some skill in his locker as well.

I’m very surprised he isn’t a regular in the Bayern side having had a very productive season with them last season, especially in the Champions League.

This is probably just a rumour and we will be seeing a lot of players being linked with a move to Arsenal. But I hope this one transpires as he would strengthen our side immensely.

Would you like to see Gustavo arrive at The Emirates next month, or are there other options out there to consider?

Apart from being a skillful player, Gustavo is a utility player hence will make the difference if brought into the squard. AW should make this a reality please.

A player like this is definitely what is required, although prising him from bayern might prove difficult.Arsenal may just accept that Diaby will never be consistently fit and so need to get someone of that ilk into the matchday eleven

      Gustavo is not for sale
      Bayern does not need money
They like their depth and will keep it
That is a key strength for them from now on
It is a long season and injuries occur
