Has his time at Arsenal come to an end?

|

Following the club’s 2-0 home loss to Swansea yesterday afternoon, Arsene Wenger has told the Arsenal boo-boys he will not quit his job.

The Gunners were booed off after yet another flat performance and poor result, which has left them sitting in 10th place in the Premier League, and some fans seem to have had enough.

Wenger is now in the firing line after only managing to pick up 21 points in 15 league games, thus recording his worst start to a season since taking over the club in 1996.

At the start of the current campaign the Frenchman said he would know when the time was right to step down from his position, but insists that time has not yet come.

And despite the fans growing increasingly restless and protesting against the club’s board before yesterday’s match, Wenger insists the best way to overcome the problem is to stick together.

When asked if the time was right to step down from his post, Arsene replied:

‘Not at all. You make your assessment at the end of the season.

‘I know there is a lot of unrest but it’s a good opportunity to stick together and show we are a strong club.

‘Of course it hurts but I am not so much worried about the placings. I believe its important is to get the quality of our game back. That is much more important.’

So after a poor run of form and enduring his worst start to a campaign since his arrival and possibly finishing outside the top four this season, should Wenger truly consider resigning? If so, when?

let the team play 3 home games in empty terraces and this rot will stop.

Wenger is the backbone of the club and still remains the major reason for many people outside england including me to be an arsenal supporter.

He has a skill of building a balanced team. We should trust in Wenger

    • Sam says:

      HAHA! Typical ‘AKB’!!!

Why hasn’t Wenger built a balanced team then? Why has be sold the best players year after year?

Wenger has too much power at the club and no accountability. David Dean kept Wenger inline and made sure we were acquiring players we needed.
Wenger will give up on players because their clubs wont sell to us cheaply and then buy second rate players.
Nobody expects us to spend like man city but we should buy quality players to address the issues in the squad.
Wenger out, deadwood players out. I only want players who are willing to die for the club to play here. Arsenal shouldn’t be a stepping stone for any player.

U know what u saying bro? are u a retard is the board PETER HILL WOOOD AND BLOOD IVAN GAZIDIS that keep on asking wenger to defend on the front line for them wenger is quality he sold his player and there is just limited fund for him to spend he doest even want to sell them dont u think is hurt to sell of his best player while he is the one that make them shine? USE UR Brain and think

    • chris from Cambridge says:

Well in that case you don’t know much about football.

  • mike says:

Nonsense. Arsenal will not be great under Wenger ever again. The game has passed him by. Past glory does not guarantee or even mean future success. The problem is not the talent but the tactics. All that has to be done against Arsenal is to park the bus and counter attack. Because Arsenal will pass endlessly without any result.

  • n.d.u says:

wenger is not the problem here, his a good manager. Its the board that is busy filing its pockets and do not give a damn what happens to the team, wenger is told HOW to spend money on transfers(has to make sure that a smallest amount of money is spent and profit is made).

    • chris from Cambridge says:

You are writing nonsense. How do the Directors fill their pockets in this way ? Their salaries (if they get one) are stated in the officially audited Annual Report. And only one Director (Kroenke) has any share holding at all. The Directors have never told Wenger who to buy (or sell). Never told him what team to pick, what substitutes to make, how many to play out of position, what (same always !) formation to use.

  • Mic says:

The funny thing is that those supporting wenger to turn things around, will still be the ones who will support whoever the new manager will be if there is a rough patch, when wenger leaves. Plastic fans will always be plastic fans. How can they boo the team at half time and expect a win?

  • Mm says:

@ Mattew. Do u really blive we should continue ds In Arsene We Trust? Let all supporters go on strike for 2 to 3 home fixtures 4 dem 2 realze wat dey (Board member) av done 2 my Arsenal.

  • Mario says:

Wenger carries the can.Arsenal are in a mess. The money from the sale of RVP,Song,Cesc and Nasri has been completely wasted on deadwood. They are now stuck with these players and cant offload them. The midtable accurately reflects the current squads quality-that they are merely midtable and should not be kidding themselves.Wenger is responsible for this decline.

    • chris from Cambridge says:

Completely true. And a huge handicap has been and still is …. the flat wage structure which was to suit Wenger. It was NOT the idea of the Directors.

  • Lobster says:

This fighting against our own will help nothing. Our team, our manager, our chairman(wish him all the best) and most importantly our Club clearly need us now more than ever. We accuse our players of not playing to the required level, we accuse Wenger of being a bad manager.. Can we really call ourselves model supporters when we are busy being bickering, bitching c%€ts!? We are a shame to all the Gooners of past generations who supported the Club through much worse times than this. Maybe Wilshere should start singing “I WANT MY ARSENAL SUPPORTERS BACK” whenever the fans stay quiet or start to boo the team in a match

    • the king says:

      yes ofc they need us.
they need us to still keep going and paying the highest prices in the world to watch a football game.

for us who want change in the club as fans we do it becouse we love our club and want it to do well
same of our fans you might be happy with 4th 5th
the rest of us want to atlest try to win something.

    • Pete says:

The only way to help the club through this ‘rough patch'(seven, soon to be eight years of rubbish) is to keep away from the Emirates on matchday.

  • UMOH EKWO says:

Wenger will never resign not with the money he is making and the authorty he has in the club.He hasn’t got an employer who can sack him either.Even if Arsenal is relegated, we will be told he is the only one who can bring the team back. We are stock with Wenger for now.

  • Gunner says:

Unless the board give whatever new manager they got 100s of millions then things wont get better at Arsenal. Without Wenger working miracles on a shoe string budget we’d never have been in the CL the last 14 years, nowhere near.

Be careful what you wish for. Charlton fans where happy to see Curbishly go and look where they are now.
