Arsenal are interested in signing Juventus’ Alessandro Matri in the January transfer window.

Despite playing a pivotal role in Juventus’ title success last term, scoring 10 goals in 31 Serie A appearances, the 28-year-old has struggled to get games under Antonio Conte this season, starting just two league games so far.

Matri was loaned out several times before joining Cagliari in 2007 and, in 2011, the Italy international signed for Juventus on loan before eventually sealing a permanent switch to the Turin club.

Arsene Wenger appears keen on signing another striker next month, with the likes of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Adrian Lopez, as well as others, being linked with a winter move to The Emirates. And the Frenchman may well look to make a move for the powerful striker and test Juventus’ resolve with a £7 million January bid, according to talkSPORT.

Juve are said to be keen on Walcott, whose contract at Arsenal is set to expire in the summer, and Wenger could yet consider offering the England international in exchange for Matri if the speedy winger doesn’t sign a new contract before Christmas.
