Arsenal draw Bayern – what are our chances? [have your say]

So we’ve got Bayern Munich in the next phase of the Champions League, the team many Arsenal fans were hoping to avoid, according to the latest Gunnersphere poll.

I for one am just glad we didn’t get Barcelona (again) and I think the two upcoming games with the German giants will provide us much entertainment.

It’s certainly not the best draw we could have hoped for and perhaps Malaga would’ve been the ideal team to face, but even they, in my opinion, would have proven a tough test.

True this, whichever team we drew would’ve been tricky for us. Not because of our poor form and inconsistency, but because all the teams who have reached the knockout stages are worthy of their place.

Yes Bayern are probably in the same category of that of Barca. They possess some superb players and are consistent performers in the Champions League, but as the saying goes – you have to beat the best to be the best – and I honestly think we are capable of slaying the formidable Bavarian giants over both legs, if the REAL Arsenal turn up.

What are your thoughts on Arsenal drawing Bayern Munich and the draw in general?

Yap.. it’s a very tough component to beat. Arsenal must be in a very good shape and high motivation to beat B. Munich. A wining at Emirates with a one goal isn’t enough.

To Mo and damian this is the actual draw…..the same draw that we had in the mock draw to ensure that everything was working as has also taken place in the real draw… It is indeed Arenal vs Bayern

Once you get to this stage ,any team can beat MU or any one. Of course the gunners have a chance but if its tippy tappy or dancing soccer and passing till eternity, get ready for a loss.

I think we’ve gone through that stage. We;re maturing and to be honest a litlle unlucky against Bradford. Just on the dream side of life Arsenal have a history of losing against clubs lower down (Ican still remember swindon in the league cup in the sixties not to mention Wrexham)and yet still acheiving the impossible (1989 and 1971 as wellas “The Invincibles”) So maybe it’s our turn for the Champions League. if we continue to work as a team and can manifest the promise we have been showing of late there will be no problem BUT Batern showed in the final they couldn’t get the ball in the net AND they were very nervous on penalties (who does that remind you of?)if I had to make a prediction I would say Arsenal on determination – that’s our edge. There are no easy games in this section just look at the names of the clubs who made it this far. Bayern are a good side and are strong but we can beat them. I don’t think it matters what team you face if you want to win you have to beat everyone in your path. It has to be down to the players to show the desire to win something. These players once they step out onto that pitch have to show they want to win and if they do that then they can.

sorry i am not crazy to think that arsenal has chances with our goalkeper , he is one of the worse keeper in ingland

  • drew says:

Of course bayern is not easy to play but we can beat them and if we do so i am sure we can go far in this cup. Remember real madrid in 2006 n milan in 2008. Even if our 1st team just got eliminated by bradford i am convinced arsenal can beat the giant Germans. They just got to believe n play their game COYG

  • niko says:

Will the Real Arsenal please stand up?

  • Jason says:

We are going out, end of story, bayern have been on the up for a couple of seasons, much as I hate to admit it, I just don’t see how we can beat them….
