‘United are streets ahead of Arsenal’

|

Former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp firmly believes Manchester United are ‘streets ahead’ of Arsenal, following the Red Devils’ 2-1 win over The Gunners at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from former Gunner Robin van Persie and Patrice Evra, before Santi Cazorla bagged what proved to be a consolation goal, put United on top of the Premier League table and nine points clear of Arsene Wenger’s men, leaving many Arsenal fans fuming and disappointed at the same time – including myself!

And while Manchester United will be ‘right there again’ – eluding to fighting for the title – Redknapp believes the gap between the two clubs will be bigger before the season is over:

‘The most obvious thing was that United are streets ahead of Arsenal – they have now beaten them six times out of the last seven.

‘United are going to be right there again, but you fear for poor old Arsene Wenger because he has lost so many top players.

‘You lose the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and Samir Nasri and it’s going to hurt like hell, and Arsene must have feared Van Persie would cause him pain.

‘That’s exactly how it worked out, and you just knew from the moment he scored the opener that Arsenal weren’t going to get anything out of the game.

‘They’re nine points behind United already, and the gap is going to get a lot bigger before the season is over.’

You can’t help but agree with ‘Arry, especially when you consider our recent form and how many points we are already behind.

It’s our worst start to a season in 16 years and it doesn’t look like we will be challenging for the title again this year, and that’s a real shame.

A top four finish and bagging a minor cup is our best hope this season.
