Aaron Ramsey insists Arsenal must beat Montpellier on Wednesday night in the Champions League if they want to feel secure about reaching the knockout stages.
Arsenal sit in second place with seven points behind Group B leaders Schalke by one and one in front of Olympiacos and, with two games left to play, Ramsey believes it is a must win game against Montpellier, who are already eliminated from the competition, at The Emirates, especially if they want to finish top of the group.
The Wales international said:
‘The group is pretty tight, so I think you can say we have to win that game.’
‘We are at home, so hopefully we can do that and put ourselves in a strong position to qualify.’
I’m particularly not too bothered whether we finish first or second in the group, just as long as we qualify to be honest. And in order to do this, like Ramsey stated, a home win against the Ligue 1 champions is a necessity, and we have to hope Olympiacos draw or lose to Schalke – we do not want to be going to Greece needing a result, that’s for sure.
