So we ended up losing 2-1 at Old Trafford Saturday afternoon, a score-line which pretty much flattered us, as we never turned up.
But perhaps the most memorable incident of the game came at the end of the first 45.
Despite having a howler at left-back and getting caught out of position on a number of occasions, Andre Santos went over to goal-scorer Robin van Persie and asked for his shirt – a move which left many Arsenal fans and Jamie Redknapp in the Sky Sports studio bewildered, as well as a certain former Gunner fuming.
When asked what he thought about the shirt swap as it happened, Ray Parlour said:
‘I wouldn’t have that, that is a joke’
‘I mean, at half-time? You can do it after the game if you want. But at half-time swapping shirts? He should be concentrating more on his game. It sounds like he’s having an absolute nightmare at the moment
‘I don’t know if Arsene Wenger will look at that situation and maybe bring Koscielny and put Vermaelen at left-back, maybe making them a little more solid.
‘But Santos, he can’t play in the back four, he really can’t. He gets caught out of position so many times. But swapping shirts at half-time is a joke, seriously.’
Personally, I didn’t get it.
Santos was having a mare at the time and to ask for the Dutchman’s shirt at half-time is, like Parlour said, a joke, and disrespectful towards Arsenal and the fans in my book.
Judging by his recent performances and off-field antics, I don’t think he is a player fit to wear the Arsenal shirt, and really hope to see Wenger address the left back issue ahead of the crucial trip to Germany on Tuesday.

i wonder do some players at arsenal have any passion for the club they should have been kicking the crap out of rvp like old arsenal not swapping shirts i loved it when arteta slapped rvp in the head loll and when rvp shook hands with ramsey, ramsey couldnt even look the snake in the face and sagna gave him some evils but would have love to see these lot showing him what they thought on the pitch viera keown lauren campbell etc would have ate him alive even the likes of flamini fab adebayor would have shown more passion afc now got 2many nice guys who r on some little girl crap.
There should be massive sack in arsenal starting 4rm the greedy & shylock arsenal board they have 2 resign and look 4 another business that will feed their families b/c they are not qualified in any way 2 run a football club like arsenal. Then arsene wenger should follow suit 4 running out ideas. These players should also be shown the exit door; arshavin, djorou, santos,diaby,giroud,ramsey, park, bendtner,squillaci, & others then a board that is ready 2 splash &invest on the club should take over. A good coach & manager like guardiola should be employed 2 manage d club i knw he knws gud players and will be ready 2 buy unlike d current french stubborn mafia called arsene wenger. Then arsenal will return 2 winning ways again.

Santos may not be a brilliant left back but he sure is a brilliant businessman. With RVP on fire at the moment, I just wonder what that shirt would cost in a few years time. Playing for a team with no ambition, where else are you supposed to collect memorabilia? LOL!! This is laughable, what i don’t find funny is Wenger and Co. getting away with murder.
Wenger says the players have forgot how good they are,talk of desperation what utter rubbish.So they only have to remember how good they are and all will be solved,time to go Wenger you are seriously embarrassing yourself.
