So apparently Arsenal are tracking down FC Copenhagen striker Andreas Cornelius, who has been dubbed ‘the new Nicklas Bendtner’ – doesn’t sound good does it?

Well it’s not as bad as it seems, as both Milan clubs, as well as West Ham, are also keeping an eye on the 19-year-old, who has scored 10 goals in 19 appearances for the Danish club so far this season. So competition over this youngster’s signature looks fierce at present.

The striker was brought to Arsenal’s attention after being watched by their Scandinavian scout Bobby Bennet, who found and negotiated the deal for Bendtner in 2004. However, Bennet thinks Cornelius, who is rated at around £3.5 million, has greater potential and ability than his fellow Dane.

The 6’4’’ striker is known to have good technique and great aerial ability, hence his comparison to Bendtner.

But while many clubs are interested in the Denmark international, it is believed Copenhagen are unwilling to part ways with the player in January, unless they can loan him back from the club they sell him to until the end of the season.

Reports suggest Inter are the only team out of the pack who have tabled a bid (£3 million) for the youngster.
