‘What are Arsenal doing thinking about letting him go?’

‘We shouldn’t be asking ‘what position can he play?’ We should be asking: ‘What are Arsenal doing thinking about letting him go?’

These are the thoughts of Jamie Redknapp after the 23-year-old’s dazzling display against Reading in the Capital One Cup game last night.

Walcott showed many why he merits a starting role in the side, and possibly a new deal, after netting a hat-trick in what can only be described as the greatest comeback ever in the history of the game.

And following Theo’s display, Redknapp was left scratching his head and wondering why The Gunners are considering letting him go:

‘It is ridiculous that Arsenal are thinking about selling him, though. With that pace, there will be no shortage of takers.’

The Sky Sport pundit then went on to ridicule the club’s ideology of letting their top players’ contracts run down to the wire:

‘Remind me why Arsenal have allowed another top player to get to this stage…again!

‘I’m a Theo fan. The boy could catch pigeons with that pace.’

However, whilst Walcott’s wants to star in the striking role, and many Arsenal fans believe this would be his best position, the former Liverpool midfielder reckons the England international is more effective as a winger:

‘I didn’t think he played through the middle as a conventional striker against Reading. He played wide, but came inside.

‘He could play through the middle, but I’d keep him wide where he can do so much damage one-on-one against the full-back.’

I sit on the fence on this one.

While I think Walcott can become a big player for us, he is a very inconsistent performer – so I can understand why the club are not giving in to his demands over a new lucrative deal. But we can do with him in the squad.

Is he a winger or a striker? Again, another tough question to answer. While he has the pace and finishing ability to become a forward, his decision-making is appalling. But he can play in this position.

Tough situation for both club and player.

    if they let him go
then our club has become a joke.

people can say all they want but the fact is walcott his a great player okay he dose not play great every game but that also due to the fact that as a team we dont play great week in week out.

give him 100k if he wants he he ainta poor club.
we need to start keeping our big players.

and walcott is only getting better and better

This article sum’s up what’s wrong with Arsenal lately. How can you say walcott’s been inconsistent performer, when the main reason’s sometimes he has stalled is down to injuries.I’ve been fighting this rubbish about walcott for ages now and i’m tired of it.

If you think Arsenal should sell him then you haven’t really been watching what’s going on at Arsenal. If we let him go it just show’s that we are a selling club with no ambition at all.

Arsenal sign him up now and stop this Bulls***.
