According to talkSPORT, sources in Italy claim is being targeted by Roma, with the Italian club thought to preparing a move for the Swiss centre-back.

The 25-year-old defender is below the likes of , and in the centre-back pecking order and has previously been urged by his national coach, , to consider his future after making just 14 starts for ’s side last season.

Djourou hasn’t featured in the Premier League and only has a Capital One Cup appearance to his name so far this season.

Roma are thought to be keen on the out-of-favour Switzerland international, as they look to strengthen their backline, and are lining up a winter move for Djourou.

Seeing how Djourou’s contract doesn’t expire until 2015 and is a back-up option just in case any of our favoured centre-backs pick up an injury, I don’t see Wenger selling him – unless of course the Frenchman brings someone else in.
