‘I think there might be a rift in the camp’

|

Our defence received great praise at the start of the campaign. But now it seems as though it is once again being put into question with some very shambolic defending as of late.

Stewart Robson has kept a close eye on Arsenal this season and has pointed the blame for our defensive fall out on a supposed rift between Steve Bould and Arsene Wenger.

The former gunner believes there’s a little tension between Bould and Wenger, saying:

‘I hoped that (when Bould was appointed) he would do more with the defence but I’m not sure whether he’s being allowed to do that by Arsene Wenger.

‘I think there might be a rift in the camp between those two from what I’ve heard.’

Personally, I don’t think there’s a rift between the two. Whatever strategy had been set out at the start of the campaign was a pretty decent one – solid at the back and free-flowing moving forward. But as soon as our defence got shaky so did our attack. If anything Wenger would want Bould’s influx of ideas because they seemed to help a lot at the start of our campaign.

I’d say our poor defensive performances of late have come because of a few players not showing up to the game at very crucial times, not a rift between arguably the two most important men at the club.

stuart robson is a joke, never has a good word to say about the gunners!

Please dont forget that Mr. Robson was fired from his job at Arsenal only a few months ago. This statement of his looks like the words of a disgruntled ex employee.

I agree with you jk. Robson seems to have an axe to grind with Arsenal. Bit of a numpty really

  • nong says:

Wenger chose Bould himself, why would he chose someone he couldn’t work with. Idiot source, the defence has only looked crap as of late is because they are actually crap, Mannone has always looked shaky, Santos is not a defender. Defence is crap.

Wenger persuaded poor old yes man Pat Rice to stay on .. when Pat wanted to retire. Why ? because Pat was a yes man. They all have to be. FACT. As Manu Petit said on TV months back ….”he was too busy to accept a job at ASrsenal and anyway .. Arsene doesn’t like anyone to cast a shadow over him.” Steve Bould was the best passive assistant Wenger could come up with. Think about the Politics … it’s not rocket science.

Yes Manone has always looked shaky … so has Fabianski. Correct. Who left us with about 5 young keepers and not one mature big time keeper ? Wenger did.

    • chris from Cambridge says:

Santos is indeed no defender. He is a sort of attacking wing back with good keepy uppy skills. Who bought him (instead of, say, Enrique) ?? Wenger did.

Using Stewart Robson as source? Shame on you.

What does Robson know the blokes an idiot that never did anything in his career. He wasn’t good enough for the Arsenal in the 80’s and he knows sweet fa now. He’s an unemployed shit stirrer

    Up the Arsenal

Stuart Robson is a complete kn*b! He can never say a positive word for the club he has played and worked for. I think he really has a bitter axe to grind? Wenger may well be a muppet these days and a stubborn bastard, but Boulder has worked with/for/under him as a player and assistant coach for years…..they are both professionals and true gooners, the chances of them having a bitchy falling out are slim. More likely that several of our players are just a bit crap!!

  • chris from Cambridge says:

I believe Robson’s comments are genuine. Can anyone doubt that Steve Bould knows far more about defenders and defending than Arsene. Who but someone who mistrusts his assistant is banished to the Stand … but pre ordains what to do if a][ b] c] d] and e] … plus the choice/timing of substitutes. Bould may be starting to feel frustrated. Dear old Pat Rice kept his mouth shut .. to keep his job. Bould understands defending and understands tactics. Arsene understands his crusade for beautiful attacking football.

Sounds like robson isnt the only one with an axe to grind. Introducing chris the troll from cambridge. I would like to know what your football qualifications are that give yiu the right to question the most successful manager in the history of arsenal fc? as for enrique what a joke the very same enrique that rodgers wants to offload as he also cant defend. im not saying santos was the right choice but he was wengers choice and signimg enrique would have been no different. if anytging we already have one of the best left backs in the world – vermaelen. i personally would like to see him play there when gibbs is out. if not give jernade meade a run out. im a regulat watcher of the reserves and he has been our most consistent player this season he is an excellent crosser of the ball and has 5 assists.
