Mexico international Rafael Marquez firmly believes former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola WILL replace Arsene Wenger and take charge of Arsenal next season.

Guardiola, who left the Catalan club at the end of last season, is currently taking a stated 12 month break from the game.

The 41-year-old Spaniard has already been linked with a number of Premier League clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester United.

But Marquez expects his former coach to be in the Arsenal hot seat next year.

The Daily Star claim Marquez told Spanish Radio:

‘[Guardiola] will soon return to the game. I think he’ll go to England. He’d be perfect for Arsenal.’

Wenger’s existing contract is due to expire in 2014 and is reportedly in no hurry to sign a new deal at The Emirates, leaving many wondering if he will continue as boss after his contract is up.

To be honest, if Wenger were to call it quits after his current deal expires, Guardiola, in Marquez’s words, would be ‘perfect for Arsenal’.

His philosophy and style of football mirrors that of Le Boss, and for those reasons I believe the majority of the Arsenal faithful would take a shine to Guardiola.
