Wenger advises misfiring Gunner not to dwell on lack of goals

|

Arsene Wenger has told Olivier Giroud to forget about breaking his Arsenal duck ahead of the French striker’s return to former club Montpellier tonight.

The 25-year-old, who joined The Gunners in the summer from the Ligue 1 champions for around £12 million, netted 21 goals for Montpellier last season but has yet to score for us.

However, Wenger reckons the France international will produce the goods for Arsenal this season but should not dwell on his lack of goals so far.

Wenger was quoted as saying:

‘It can be positive, but it can be negative and it is never easy to handle.’

The Frenchman added:

‘No matter what you do, the less time you give the player to think about it, the better it is.’

This, in my opinion, is advice Giroud should heed. He shouldn’t try so hard to find his first goal and put so much pressure on himself, instead he should just let it come naturally and play without thinking about it, as it seem like he is doing this at present.

There is no doubt in my mind that Giroud will come good and score goals, as his positioning is superb. He just needs time to settle and to net that first goal.

@ziad,dat is very wrong 2 have wish a staff of our beloved club dead. Ramsey ll nt die,and i believe he ll improve 2 be 1 of our important players. Giroud has d qualities and potentials 2 be 1 of d deadliest striker of his time in d epl. I can see a RVP(of dis day) dat is very very potent in air in dat guy, take it or leave it. All dis guy needs is dat little adaptation time, and his 1st goal, and then watch dis guy tear defence apart.

What a stupid thing to say to Giroud and very unconvincing because of how Chamakh is treated.
