‘Freezing up’, but this misfiring Gunner will find the net soon enough

|

Olivier Giroud recently admitted he’s been ‘freezing up’ in front of goal, but is confident he will bag the goals this season.

The 25-year-old Frenchman joined The Gunners from Ligue 1 champions Montpellier during the summer transfer window but has yet to find the net for his new club, already missing a number of golden opportunities in his first three games.

However, Giroud believes he will score soon enough but must overcome his nerves in front of goal.

The France international told Sky Sports:

‘I’ve been freezing up a little bit just when I’ve been about to pull trigger and that’s exactly what happened in my first few matches for France.

‘I’m not too worried about it, because I’ve been scoring in training and I feel pretty comfortable being a part of this team.’

‘I just need to not think about things too much, so that I feel as relaxed as possible when the time comes to stick the ball in the net.’

The French striker added he will develop into a better player under the guidance of Arsene Wenger:

‘Being at Arsenal will help me with my development, and with a manager like Arsene Wenger in charge, I’m definitely in good hands.’

Ok, he has missed some glorious goal scoring opportunities in the first three games – the one against Sunderland when he was one-on-one with the goalkeeper is arguably the standout miss of the lot.

However, despite not finding the back of net so far, a positive to take from this is that at least he’s getting into the right positions to have a go at goal.

Let’s not forget it’s only been THREE games, there is a hell of a lot more ahead and I’m confident he will find his feet and prove those who are/have labelled him a flop already, after just 244 minutes of Premier League football, wrong.

Something tells me Giroud will get off the mark and bag his first goal for us this weekend against Southampton.
