‘Happy’, but for how long?

Several reports claim Barcelona have tabled a formal offer of around £15 million for Alex Song.

The Spanish club a re desperate to land a holding midfielder after the departure of Seydou Keita and have singled out the Cameroon international as their prime target.

However, the 24-year-old midfielder insists he is ‘happy’ at Arsenal despite labelling the La Liga outfit as the best team in the world:

‘I am not going to lie if I said there is no interest but I am at Arsenal and I am happy at Arsenal.

‘Barcelona are the best team in the world, and speculation will always continue until the window closes.’

So he seems happy for the time being but this could swiftly change.

Although he still has two years left to run on his existing contract, the possible departure of Robin van Persie from The Emirates could ultimately see the Cameroonian reconsider his options.

If Van Persie leaves, which looks highly likely in my view, I am pretty sure that Song, as well as Theo Walcott, will follow in the Dutchman’s footsteps.

And to be honest, if a great offer is tabled by Barcelona for Song, one which is too good to turn down, then I wouldn’t be upset with the club or Arsene Wenger agreeing to sell the former Bastia player to Messi and co.

That’s the point though – Farcelona will not put in an acceptable bid, let alone one that’s too good to turn down.

their mantra is to unsettle and unsettle and unsettle all via the press, from players to board members to tea lady and hope to drive the price down.

    Cunt club with cunt supporters.

what does a player have to do beyond releasing a statement saying he is happy at the club, it’s better than openly questioning the clubs ambition and then whoring youself to a club that won as much silverware as we did last season. At the end of the day if Arsenal dont want to sell then the barca offer doesnt matter. Song is pure quality and he wants to stay. WHY EVEN BOTHER WRITING THIS ARTICLE!!

If Alexandre Song should leave that wil b a great calamity Arsenal squad. Getting a quality & adaptive player wil also be a great task.

The man has said he is happy to be at Arsenal, wat makes u assume ths will change, especially if RVP leaves. Am sure Mr Song knows of the RVP situation, better than most of us I might add, why should it the then influence his decision all of a sudden. One of our best players has just stated his happy to be at the club and has hinted at a contract extention, so just take what he said at face value and be happy tht someone has shown a little loyalty for once. Don’t be a doom monger.
