Why we should sign this Brazilian

Reports in Italy suggest both Arsenal and Tottenham are battling to sign for Inter Milan’s Julio Cesar, with the Italian club thought to be prepared to sell the Brazil international.

The 32-year-old looks set to depart the San Siro following the arrival of Samir Handanovic from Udinese and it appears the Brazilian is not in Andrea Stamaccioni’s plans.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for Cesar, while the Gunners have been reportedly monitoring his progress.

Although Cesar is expected to stay in Italy, with Roma apparently the favourites to sign him, Italian website Calciomercato claim Arsenal, as well as Spurs, have made enquiries about the seasoned goalkeeper and could make a move for him in the upcoming weeks.

But would Cesar be an astute addition to the Arsenal squad? In my opinion, I believe so.

He is experienced, has great reflexes, and his positioning and handling are just as good. He is a world-class talent. Ok, he is a bit erractic at times, but with Manuel Almunia gone and Lukasz Fabianski set to depart, Wojciech Szczesny will need a challenger for his number one spot, and I believe Cesar could be that man.

If the price is right then Arsenal should definitely consider making a bid for the Brazilian shot-stopper.

I dis agree that we should sign Julio Cesar, because he was at fault with majorities of goal conceded by Inter last season. Despite his experiences i think Scesny is still better than him, and there is need to give Fabianski and Mannone the chance to play and develop.

  • I think we should get him. He will be a worthy back up for Szczesny. I am sure we can afford his wages and the fact that he will be coming on a free transfer makes it all the more interesting

  • Usually I do not learn article on blogs, however I would like to say that this write-up very pressured me to check out and do so! Your writing style has been surprised me. Thanks, very nice post.
