As we slowly begin to draw closer to the start of the new Premier League season, we begin to pick out the players in the current squad who could bring more to the table, if they stepped up an extra gear or two.

I thought of the THREE players who could offer more, and, in no particular order, here they are:

1.

The 25 year-old Swiss centre-back hasn’t had the best of times at recently. He has had a few games in which he has been rock solid, but sadly he isn’t exactly someone you would call Mr. Consistent or Reliable.

A player of Djourou’s stature could really go far in the game. Despite standing at 6’4’’, he doesn’t utilize his height well enough – defensively or in attack. He has other great attributes, but he doesn’t seem to know how to use them to the full capacity. Djourou is committed to the club and like most has potential, but he just lacks that extra edge that would take him to greater heights.

2.

Second on my list is the ‘Great Dane’ himself, Nicklas Bendtner.

He’s only 24, has bags of confidence, is tall and has excellent ball control as well as a good eye for goal.

Again, not one of our more consistent players, but one with potential. Even though there are reports linking the Denmark international with a move away from The Emirates this summer and I have a strange feeling that he isn’t going anywhere.

He’s been loaned out a handful of times throughtout his Arsenal career and seems to perform better when playing for clubs smaller than ours. I think he prefers to be the big fish in a small pond instead of the opposite. He just needs to sort himself out in that department and we could very well see the best of him if given the chance by .

3.

Last on my list is our Brazilian full-back, well at least that’s what we were told he was. The 29-year-old came in as one of Wenger’s deadline-day signings and to be honest he brought something to the table and was sorely missed when he was injured during the previous season – though his kamikaze style of defending did leave a few on the edge of their seats.

If we are to have an even stronger defence next season then he will really have to improve on his defending, and at the rate he’s going Santos might as well be regarded as a winger than a full-back. If things don’t go as planned then I’d much prefer the Brazilian playing higher up as a winger and Wenger sign a proper left-back.

    THREE PLAYERS
1- Frimpong – Be a useful backup for Song OR Sagna
2- Gibbs – Prefer him rather than Santos, BUT need to be
    more solid at the back.
3- Oxlade – Push for a starting 11, so that the likes of Walcott,
Gervinho, Ramsey will also try to step up…

The three complete each other Lansbury can shoot
Rambo can pass swiftly making shooting moves of his own
    Song can be Song.

Stepping up needs to be done by:

Diaby, Gibbs and Walcot. If these three do consistently well – we should be good.

so i guess players like Theo Walcott dont need to step up, it may be popular belief in some circles Walcott has improved greatly throughout the last season but i’m not convinced, he makes the same mistakes and shows the same flaws in his game, in my oppinion he hasn’t proven himself yet.

bendtner will score 10 to 15 goals a season if he stays with the gunners and he has the capability to score more
