Fiorentina have slapped a €30 million (£23m) price-tag on Stevan Jovetic, who is reportedly being monitored by Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.
The 22-year-old is under contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi until 2016, so Fiorentina are really holding all the cards at this point and can pretty much state whatever price they like. Arsenal’s involvement in any transfer for the Yugoslavian will not only depend on what happens elsewhere, but it will also come down to whether the club want to break their record transfer fee by £8 million. That alone looks like a big stumbling block as we all know Arsene Wenger isn’t likely to spend £20 million on a player.
Daniele Prade, sporting director of Fiorentina, had this to say on the potential sale of Jovetic this summer:
‘Since the start of last season we have said that we are not selling Jovetic. There is, however, an agreement with the player that [should we get an offer] above a certain figure, we will sit down and evaluate the offer.’
He added:
‘So far we have not received an offer for the player. He is a top player and we will only consider offers above €30million.’
There is no doubting that he is a fantastic player, but I cannot honestly see the transfer happening, purely because we are highly unlikely to spend £23 million on Jovetic. Besides, we already have Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud.

With 29 players still at the club that are over 21 its a matter of lets see who is leaving first. there is no way arsenal will buy more players until some leave. i would say at least 5 need to find new clubs permanently or for next season just for us to bring in one. after that it can be a.case of one out one in. thats the strategy we used last summer and that strategy saw wenger improve the team from 4th to 3rd

Wenger will never buy Jovetic for that amount. We don’t need him so why spend. Some people want to buy every player that becomes available. It is very silly. Thankfully Wenger is smart.

(grim) he played less matches then them 2 and if u watch them 2 they dont hv any skills to pass 1 or 2 defenders and he has lots of skills. i think u should watch him and plus he will become better player at arsenal his young.

20million r not too much for a player like jovetic,he’s just 22, can b developed far more.
he fits the arsenal style n can play second striker or in the hole position behind giroud
