Besides providing entertainment and breathtaking moments, the Euro 2012 tournament is also a platform for young up-and-coming talent to strut their stuff. One starlet that has particularly made a name for himself in Poland and Ukraine is Alan Dzagoev.
The CSKA Moscow playmaker has caught the eye of some major European club’s with his performances for Russian this summer, with Arsenal rumoured to be the first to react to his flying start in the tournament.
Dzagoev is a creative midfielder who has proved his worth in Poland and Ukraine, netting three of Russia’s five goals.
Arsene Wenger is keen to add to the Gunners’ forward line, with Lukas Podolski already, while some reports claim they have signed Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud.
The 22-year-old’s contract expires at the end of this year and CSKA value him at around £13million. But the nature of his contract may force them to accept a lower offer, though reports suggest the Russian is comfortable at the club, which he’s been at since 2008.
With Andrey Arshavin rumoured to be wanting a move away from Arsenal, German newspaper Bild report that his fellow countryman could be the man to replace him.
So the question is – should we go for him? I say why not.
If Arshavin does leave then Dzagoev seems to be a more than capable replacement. He’s almost in the same mould as Arshavin, but younger and eager to excel. Even though Podolski looks to be the Russian’s replacement, I still believe the Gunners should take advantage of this situation!

U gota b kidding me! Jst two matches and he is already tippd to replace Arsh? ?? don’t tink so
he is already the best player in the Russian league at just 21 and the Advocaat has now built the Russian team around him..
Gotta be worth the punt… but will be doo expensive for Arsene’s liking im sure..
Just like Mario Goetze.. sadly
His contract expires next year and he hasn’t renewed as yet so he won’t be expensive. He’s stated a desire to explore possibilities outside of Russia so a move for him couls definitely be on the cards for any club.
