Schalke midfielder Lewis Holtby recently admitted that he would be very keen on a move to Arsenal one day.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past and says if he was ever to move to England it will only be for the Gunners, as he enjoys the attractive football Arsene Wenger’s side plays.

However, Holtby remains focused on Schalke for the time being.

The German international told talkSPORT:

‘I have always said that my aim is to come to the Premier League one day because I love the league. My father is English and of course my favourite teams are Everton and Arsenal.’

He went on to say:

‘It would be a massive move [to Arsenal] because Arsenal players were always my favourite. They play nice one-touch football, they’re offensive, have young players, a great stadium and a great city so it is a nice club.

‘My thoughts now are first with Schalke but you never know.’

I don’t really know much about this Holtby fella, apart from that he is a 5’8’’ midfielder and is fairly young at only 21. But it’s great to see that he admires our club and our style of football.

Would he be welcomed at Arsenal? For sure. He seems to love the club and would relish the chance to play for us one day.

Perhaps a move in the future is on the cards, but I personally don’t think we are in desperate need of his services.

One for the future more than the present I think.

Here is a video of Holtby in action:
