Well here’s some good news which will put a smile on Arsene Wenger’s face – Marvin Martin is ready to leave Sochaux.
The 24-year-old recently revealed to Sochaux that he wants to move on following a disappointing season with the French club.
Martin told L’Equipe:
‘I honestly do not know where I will go.
‘My goal was to help keep Sochaux in Ligue 1.
‘For my future, we’ll see. There is also the selection for the Euros which is important because I really want to make the 23.’
He added:
‘France or abroad? I do not know, otherwise I would tell you. I do not know when I will make my decision. It will be when it happens.’
Lille reportedly want the Paris-born midfielder to replace Eden Hazard, but Martin has also drawn interest from the Premier League, with Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool understood to be keen on the 5’7’’ France international.
Having scouted Martin for the past 18 months or so, it is believed all the abovementioned clubs will now look to make a move for him this summer following the player’s latest comments.
Despite having three-years left to run on his existing deal at Sochaux, Martin could potentially leave the French club for as little as £8 million, according to the Metro.
We could really do with a creative maestro coming in to the club this summer and Martin fits the bill in my book.
The Frenchman has excellent vision and awareness, as well superb technical ability and flair.
In the past two seasons at Sochaux, he made a combined total of 73 appearances in all competitions, netting five goals and contributing 27 assists. He is not a proven goal scorer by any means, but his assist rate is impressive and this is what we currently lack at Arsenal – creativity.
£8 million for Martin is a bargain in my book. I really hope Wenger takes initiative and signs the diminutive Frenchman this summer, as he could play a key role for us next season.

We scored 74 league goals and missed at least double that figure this season and conceeded 49 it is not creativity that we lack it is defensive ability and an additional clinical finisher or two that we need. podolski is certainly a clinical finisher. our big problem will be.if we lose our two biggest assist makers this season and our top 2 goalscorers song walcot and rvp

Good player but not consistent,the media have already hyped him up and with 3 years on his contract,I dont think he would be sold for 8m.Seriously if he is that good,what would make Sochuax sell him for 8m?think about it ,if you were the president of Sochuax what would you do?

I’d like to see him sign for us. I’ve seen him play a few games. Fairly decent player. Would certainly give some of the current team members a run for their money.

We must sign him. There are lots of attacking midfielders around, but few creative midfield maestros who control games. Marvin Martin is a rarity nowdays. We should get him double quick. If the Spuds get to him first I will be sick.
