target has reportedly signed for former French champions Lille.

The 24-year-old France international was supposedly on the Gunners’ radar following two productive seasons at Sochaux, which saw him create 26 goals and net five, as well as being short-listed for the UNFP Young Player of the Year award.

However, after cashing in on , who signed for Chelsea last month, Lille has beaten Arsenal and Spurs for the services of Martin.

This will not exactly come as good news to and some Arsenal fans out there who rate the French maestro highly. I for one would have loved to seen Martin come to Arsenal this summer, but there are other options out there for our club to consider – springs to mind.

We’ve already got Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud looks to be on his way after the Euros, but I still think we lack a create midfielder. This, in my opinion, is a necessity this summer.

    We haven’t ‘missed’ Martin, we did not want him, his agent has been hawking him around the premiership since before Xmas with no takers, he would not improve the side so therefore is not a miss.

    He was snubbed, since at no time did the club ever show– indeed, Wenger flatly denied — any interest in him. He is not what Arsenal are looking for.
