Arsenal are apparently tracking down Athletic Bilbao’s Fernando Llorente.
The 27-year-old has only one-year left on his current deal and it is thought that Arsene Wenger is monitoring the situation closely.
The big stumbling block for Arsenal however would his buyout clause which stands at £28 million.
Having scored 17 goals for Bilbao last season in La Liga, Llorente earned a place in the Spanish national side for Euro 2012 and has attracted interest from around Europe.
It is thought however this potential move will only happen if Robin van Persie decides to leave the Gunners.
Personally, I cannot see this move happening, regardless of if Arsenal lose RVP or not for the simple reason that Wenger will shudder at the £28 million buyout clause, this amount is £13 million more than our current record signing Andrey Arshavin!
Don’t get me wrong, I think Llorente would be a fantastic signing for the club, but if any Arsenal fan honestly believes that we are going to go out and spend £28 million on a player then they obviously need their head examined, not to mention Llorente is in the last year of his contract and will more than likely want to stay in Spain.
Should Wenger splash out £28 million for Llorente or should the Frenchman look elsewhere?

Either liorente,giroud,bas dost,nene,di natalia,demsey all will be a great signing 4 arsenal.wenger should act fast towards buyin.i get tired of wenger when he shows interest towards a player and another club buys due to his slow decision takin.there are players in d squad dat are still meant to be in d reserves,players like ramsey nt good enough to be in the starting eleven,squill meant to be released free,along with alumi,diaby,chamak,.wenger we need 3 or 4 more players to be added to d squad.pls try to get joel campbell a work permit.carlos vela,arshavin should be given chance to play their best position in d squad.

A possible transfer made impossible by wenger
Quite right. Given his contract situation, the most Wenger would pay is 12m. However, were he to come, I would be very glad because he’s a fantastic footballer, isn’t he?
We were ready to spend 35m euros on a certain 19 year old last summer and as recent as in january. So why not on Llorente? and how did we come to decide that the Arshavin transfer fee has become the ceiling for our transfer activities?
U fool the buy-out-clause doesnt matter he has 1 year on his contract left so we could easily get him for 20 mil.
i think he is not worth spending 28 mn.. instead we should buy dempsey and giroud/doumbia.. and nick powell if possible.. that guy has huge potential to be at the top.. also vertonghen will be a nice addition and add marvin martin to that.. then i think we will be the team to beat.. also a gk for the departing fabianski and almunia..
£28 million is £10 million more than what we should pay we can get soldado for that much and he’s scored a similar amount to llorente over tha past few seasons.
Rather pay the £13m buyout clause to get Olivier Giroud. Much more confident he’d be a success in England than Llorente, despite the Spaniard’s strength and aerial ability.
Llorente’s not Wenger’s type of player considering the fact that he’s way too expensive. I doubt if he’s gonna excel in an Arsenal shirt. Wenger Should sign
– Mbiwa(Can Play any where at the back four and DM)
– M’Vila
– Gordon(Free transfer and replacement for Almunia, Fabianski)
– Swap Chamakh for Giroud plus little cash
– Extend RVP’s contract
– Get rid of the following players…
Djourou, Denilson, Squid ,Vela(loan), Chamakh, Park and Arshavin.
And success will be ours 🙂
