Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan claims Robin van Persie is happy at Arsenal but wants to know what the club have planned this summer in terms of signings.

The Dutch striker has netted an impressive 36 goals in 45 appearances for the Gunners so far this season, and looks set to bag the Premier League golden boot, having scored 30 goals with one game left to spare.

But the 28-year-old has yet to sign a new deal at the club, with just over a year left to run on his existing deal, leaving the Arsenal faithful, as well as Arsene Wenger, very, very anxious.

However, Van der Kraan, who admits he speaks to Van Persie on a regular basis, insists the Dutch international has no desire to leave Arsenal but wants assurances from the club.

Speaking to talkSPORT’s ‘Kick Off’ show recently, Van der Kraan said:

‘I think the key part of all the discussions around Robin van Persie is going to be – what is the team and the manager going to do? Which players are coming in and maybe it is significant for the first time that players are arriving early at Arsenal for the new season.

‘Last season I think was probably the most frustrating summer for Robin.

‘I know him well. I speak to him regularly and I think in everyway Robin is happy in England and in London. He probably said the same thing, I wasn’t at the Football Writers dinner, but he loves where he lives in the middle of London. There is no reason to leave, he loves the club. He tells me so many times that he feels like a real Gunner, and to me there was no warning signal in that speech which I heard about, about him leaving the club.

‘But I do think it’s going to be really vital which players are coming in at Arsenal this summer.’

For me, this is great to hear and has given me hope that Robin WILL in fact sign a new deal at the end of the season, depending of course on who Wenger manages to bring in this summer. Lukas Podolski is a fantastic start, but more signings will be required.

For now though we should all focus on tomorrow’s game, bag the three points and claim third spot. If this is done then it will surely persuade and play a part in Robin’s decision to commit his long-term future to Arsenal, a club he loves!

Wenger needs to wake up. Same old crap like we have a huge squad and wilshere and diaby are like a new signing!!! If have no confidence in any other world class players coming into the squad before next season. It was embarassing when wenger said earlier we have already bought 5 players this year no u sold cesc and nasri then left it til transfer deadline day and were left with bargain basement players with the exception of arteta!!!

Robin will leave… And we’re stuck with Wenger and Ramsey

I think the sight of nasri, clichy and kolo toure celebrating with the premier league trophy will be a hard one for van persie to swallow. Finishing the league as a top scorer and the club fighting for third is ironical. This team needs strengthening on a serious note and wenger should stop deafening our ears with the stories of diaby coming back to fitness and other players on loan coming back. One thing wenger should know is that he must spend or see arsenal follow liverpool’s path.

  • Haha liverpool screwed themselves even more this time spending and not living upto expectation. AW has done a great job this time around when most of the stubborn fans(moaners) thought we would be in midtable, we will be finishing 3rd tomorrow. Respect the man who has done so much for our club. IN ARSENE WE TRUST AND IN ARSENAL WE BELEIVE! COYG! \m/

There are so many artificial Arsenal supporters here who always shouting 4 trophy an blaming Wenger whe Arsenal fail to deliver. If the forumers here remember, last season same voices came from them asking Wenger to sell RVP cosz he only played half of de season and some of them said he is injury prone and his legs are made of biscuits. They also ask Wenger to sell Koscielny and also Song. Early this season they asked Wenger to sell Walcott n Juroy, Diaby etc. They praised Jurou last year for his oustanding performance in de absence of Verm and also his perf against Barca. Early zis season same Arsenal art. fans praise Chamakh 4 his performance. This season they even asked Wenger to go.Early zis year zey also asked Mert to be sold and some them said Mertz is slower than tanker. And now they praise Walcot 4 his latest perfrmnce and so Mertz at the back.I think if Arsenal management listen for this guys Arsena have to sell all their players. But in my opinion, those who should be sold actually are, these artificial Arsenal fans if Arsenal are able to do that. We dont need them .
