So Clint Dempsey recently revealed that he wants to play in the Champions League to test himself. In another words, or from what I think the American is trying to get at is, he wants to quit Fulham and move to Arsenal.
The 29-year-old was in impressive form this season, netting 17 goals for Fulham from his advanced midfield role
As a result of his fine form, the USA international has been linked with a move to Arsene Wenger’s side, while The Cottagers are trying to tie their prized asset down to a new deal and end speculation over his future.
But it seems Dempsey is ready to call time on his Fulham career and will look for a club, most likely Arsenal, to offer him the opportunity to perform in Europe’s biggest competition, the Champions League.
‘Fulham have offered a contract and I just wanted to focus on my football and finish off the season strongly.
‘I’ve always said I’m grateful for everything Fulham has done for me.
‘Some of the best memories I have in soccer have been there. But the fact remains that I want to play in Champions League. I want to play at the highest level possible.’
‘I want to do as much as I can and look back and say I made the most of all the opportunities I’ve had.
‘I’m always going to want to play in Champions League. It’s something that I’ve never done. I want to test myself.’
This to me is an obvious ‘come and get me plea’ from Dempsey to what can only be Arsenal FC.
Both Manchester clubs have not shown any interest towards him, while Chelsea will more than likely look for alternative options this summer.
So should Wenger answer Clint’s call?
In my opinion, despite being a very good player, who has Premier League experience, I don’t think we necessarily need him.
We already have a number of midfielders in our squad and I struggle to see where he would fit in.
However saying that, he only has one-year left to run on his existing deal, so perhaps he would be a viable and cheaper option for Wenger to consider, if of course the Frenchman is looking for an advanced midfielder.
We certainly need a creative maestro to come in, but is Dempsey that man? I don’t think so.

What r u waitin for,mr.wenger? Do u want to sell persie or what r u doin to us(arsenal fans)? If u want to see persie at emirates next season than open your eye wide n think big. If i were u,i’d have buy experinced players like: m’villa, randu, demsey, giroud n last n not least one goalkeeper.please i beg u try your best to buy 4-5 players to convince our good catian( van.persie) otherwise,u will see him leaving arsenal like nasri n fabregas next season.

He’s worth getting especially if we don’t keep hold of Benayoun on a permanent basis and he could teach Ramsey a thing or two definitely seems win win to me

wenger, i am commanding you to stop whatever u are doing, rush to demsey’s house and give him a 3 yrs contract. he is 29 and he can offer us a lot in 3 yrs. he is one of the best midfielders in EPL. apart from arteta, none of our midfielders can be compared with him. if fulham is reluctant to sell, give them ramsey, djhorou, vela, squallaci, chakmak, and bentner. i believe that with these ‘WONDERFUL PLAYERS’ they will agree to give us our demsey. i cant wait to see him patner with arteta, song, and wishere.

Dream on, we have made our one Summer signing, the replacement for RvP, THAT’S IT, HAVEN’T YOU LEARNED ANYTHING ABOUT THE DICTATOR IN FIVE SEASONS, no one else will be coming, he will sell the spin that Diaby and Wilshire are like new signings. We will always be one injury from a terrible season as usual.
