Why Arsenal shouldn’t accept this proposed swap deal

It appears Fiorentina are looking for a deal which could see them land want-away striker Marouane Chamakh with youngster Adem Ljajic move in the opposite direction.

Ljajic made the headlines this season after former Fiorentina boss Delio Rossi punched the player following a substitution whereby the 20-year-old sarcastically applauded his manager’s decision to replace him during a Serie A match against Novara. As a result of his actions, the Florence-based club parted ways with Rossi, who was fined £12,000 fine and given a three month ban.

Having scored just four goals last season for Fiorentina, you’d have to question the decision to accept the swap deal on Arsenal’s part. However, you could argue that Chamakh himself hasn’t exactly done better. In fact, the Moroccan only scored one goal for the Gunners this season! Also it would mean that we would have one less player who we would lose to the African Cup of Nations, which would be a bonus to the club in general.

I for one am not 100% convinced about this proposed transfer. There is no doubting that Ljajic is young enough to come in and improve dramatically, but you have to question any player coming in and being able to cope with the physical demands of the Premier League.

There is no doubt, in my view, that Chamakh will be leaving Arsenal during the summer. However, I don’t think the swap deal in this case would really benefit Arsenal, and I think the only reason Fiorentina are considering this move is to get rid of a player who has under performed this year.

No deal for me, despite Chamakh’s lack of impact this season.

Chamakh for Ljajic – would you swap?

He has scored the exact same amount as goals as Arteta and more then Rosicky, so I think this swap deal because of his age, can only benefit Arsenal.

I don’t disagree with your conclusion, arteta scored 6 goals whilst being the most defensive midfielder of the side. Ljajic looks pretty similar to rosicky, to me, and could be a useful signing. Doubt he’d get straight into the side, but he’s young and could provide a nice attacking option to have around.

Go and sit some were dear ok and let Gunners do business

  • Allen says:

look he is young but the reason fiorentina are looking to get rid is not ability it is attitude. They can’t sack him so they are looking to off load the lad for his part in the fracas. Would he fit in at arsenal possibly, the concern is his attitude and can that be sorted if so he may be a good addition though money for chamakh would better serve our interests

Does this mean NO-ONE from overseas should ever consider signing for a team in the EPL?

yes, for example Vela couldn´t “cope with the physical demands of the Premier League”. But what about Modri?? He is also from Balkan and tiny:P but became the one of the best midfielders of PL…Give him a chance, even Chamakh get it!

Av bin watching Adem Ljajic 4 a long tym, no doubt d Guy is gud. I urge arsenal 2 go on wit d Deal

Chamark came with a great reputation. We all seem to forget he never did badly until RVP became fit. Blame the coach for playing with only one striker the whole season. As for a 20 year old attacking mid seeing little football in Italy, I say no! Watch out for eisfield. And possibly Gnarby this season.
