Reports in Spain claim Barcelona are looking to do some bargain hunting this summer, with Theo Walcott believed to be on their long list of possible recruits.
Mundo Deportivo suggests the Catalan club are keen to add to their squad at the end of the season and are thought to be monitoring several players around Europe, including the likes of Jordi Alba, Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie, whose contracts are set to expire next summer, as the La Liga outfit have limited funds to spend.
Walcott has been courted by Barca in the past and the Catalans could look to rekindle their interest in the England winger, who has yet to sign a new deal at Arsenal, putting Arsene Wenger and the north London club in quite a predicament. If Walcott fails to agree terms this summer, then the Gunners will have to decide whether to sell or allow the 23-year-old to leave for nothing next summer.
However, Wenger remains optimistic that the speedy winger will stay at Arsenal beyond his existing deal, but the player may just be tempted by the lure of other top clubs, including the world’s best team Barcelona.
Walcott has nine goals and assists for the Gunners this season in 43 appearances.

I agree with Ydk … that is assuming Barca offer a high fee. Ox will be better (and tougher) very soon and Gervinho is no worse (ie. no less consistent). Plus we should not always even pick 2 wingers.

some of our fans are very very stupid.
there have been likes of chealse, juventus and barcelona showing interesting in walcott.
is that because they are stupid or dont know anything bout football..?
people dont realise that walcott plays a big part in our team.
this season his our second best goal scorer.
about 2-3 play with most assist in the team.
and yetttttt some people dont want that at the club :S.
it would be funnny if theo dose leave.
and this fans can enjoy,,,arshavin, ramsey, benayo on the wings.

I’m a Walcott fan. I’ve said it before… even when he ‘appears’ to have an off game to many fans, he actually helps Arsenal in unseen ways. Mainly its that other teams fear his speed so much that they play a more conservative line, giving our midfielders another 2 or 3 yards of space.
BUT, if we can get a lot of money for him, and we want to shake things up and overhaul the team… I could support selling him. What Arsenal need more than anything is depth. We are just so thin compared to the other top teams. It impacts us in so many ways… more injuries because we can’t afford to rest and rotate players. Lack of competition for 1st team spots to spur our starters to play better. Etc etc.
Another thing about Walcott is that sometimes he seems a little soft to me. He just doesn’t have that hard killer instinct. I’d love to see a player like Dempsey join Arsenal. He is definitely tough mentally and physically. He is proven in the EPL. He can play midfield or striker. His work rate is top notch and he tracks back to support the defense. And he can score goals.

Some arsenal fans are really stupid that they don’t that walcott is really useful 4 dis team. That is how u shouted that we should sell nasri, fabregas and clichy look at what it cost us. I think is high time to give these players support not insult.

Barca should go and rest. They have not been able to fully utilize Fab & co they made noise about. I believe we still need Theo. Maybe a little more competition in his wing will up his game. We should not throw our stars away. But. Add to them and have enough depth to face the season.

Well said.BC. I think he would be better suited as a striker if he was getting on to the end of some of wilsheres defence splitting passes he would be in double figures for goals. So many times he has been in acres of space and no through ball to him,i dont know if the midfield can see the space or have just lost belief in him or thier not capable of the pass.??????. Walcott next season through the middle.Cos im sure thats what barca and sho ever else is thinking. Get Adam Johnston from Citeh yo fill Walcotts place and were laughing.
