Why Arsenal should consider landing this Dortmund forward

Arsenal are keeping tabs on Polish international striker Robert Lewandowski, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 23-year-old, who has netted 20 goals for Borussia Dortmund so far this season, is also being tracked by Chelsea and Manchester City.

Lewandowski is set to enter the final two-years of his existing deal and is reportedly refusing to enter talks over a contract extension with the Bundesliga outfit until after Euro 2012, thus putting the Premier League trio on alert this summer.

But should the Gunners focus their attention on landing the Pole?

To be honest, I think he would be an astute signing from our club.

Rated between £12-15 million, Lewandowski is a natural goal scorer, who possesses great movement, a piercing eye for goal and pace.

Since his arrival from Lech Poznan in June 2010, the polish striker has netted 34 goals in 85 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund, averaging a goal every 2.5 games.

For value for money, Lewandowski would certainly be worth considering this summer, and is definitely a better all-round forward than Marouane Chamakh, who is back up to Robin van Persie.

However, I firmly believe that if RVP commits his future to the club and with Lukas Podolski on his way from FC Koln, I don’t necessarily think we need to go out and buy another striker.

In any case, it’s great to see our club target such players this summer.

Podolski signing is welcome news. To the midfield now and much will depend on Wilshere`s recovery and of course his return to form which may take a little while. M`Vila, I`m told ,is a defensive/holding midfielder, so is Song, so I`m not sure about this as we need a creative attacking midfielder. As I say, much will depend on Wilshere`s recovery. So to the defence. Here we have quality players ( if they`re all fit) the only doubtful position being left back. Should we sign Vertonghen his versatility will give us the flexibility and insurance we will most certainly need if we are to challenge for honours.
    One down two to go.
