Good news, bad news for some Arsenal fans

Alex Song will not be leaving Arsenal for Inter Milan this summer, according to the midfielder’s agent.

The 24-year-old has been in good form and ever-present for the Gunners this season, conjuring up an impressive 11 assists from his midfield role.

As a result, Song has been strongly linked with a move away from Arsenal at the end of the season, with Inter Milan said to be keen in the Cameroonian enforcer.

Reports earlier this month claimed the Italian outfit will make a move for Song, who was on Barcelona’s radar last year, if they fail to land in-demand Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila, who is reportedly on his way to Arsenal at the end of the season.

However, his agent, Christophe Mongai, insists the Cameroon international will not be going anywhere this summer, thus dismissing claims he is on his way to the San Siro club.

He told Interlive.it:

‘I don’t know anything about these rumours but I can assure you that I’ve never had contact with (Inter sporting director Marco) Branca or with the other Inter leaders.’

But when asked if Song would like to one day play in Italy, Mongai said:

‘Yes, but Alex is one of the most important Arsenal players as is clear from the fact that (Arsene) Wenger always starts him. So I don’t think the Gunners are going to sell him during the summer transfer window.’

A lot of people believe if Arsenal manage to sign M’Vila in the summer then Song will be on his way out. Well this doesn’t look like it’s going to happen, not this summer anyway. That’s the good news, especially for those out there who rate Song highly.

Bad news, again for those who love Song, it seems his future lies away from Arsenal, somewhere in Italy by the looks of it!

It’s agent talk. He’s not going to come out and say “Nah, Song has no intention of playing in Italy” is he?!
Unless Song himself comes out and says “I want to play in Italy” take it with a pinch of salt and don’t sensationalise everything.

Well Song is not exactly going to say he wants to play in Italy either now is he. not really bothered if he goes, as he is well over-rated in my opinion

I fail to see the bad news! mvila and song play in tandem this year with coquelin being the third man. next season we sell song for more than we are paying for mvila coquelin then steps up with frimpong being the third man. who knows perhaps rennes will take denilson and diaby in some sort of swap for mvila this summer?
