Newcastle’s Yohan Cabaye has urged former Lille team-mate Eden Hazard to join Arsenal instead of Spurs.

The Belgian international could be on his way to England with both London clubs rumoured to be interested in his services this summer.

In a recent interview with L’Equipe, Cabaye expressed his views on the Hazard situation, saying the 21-year-old forward should to turn his attention away from Spurs and think about Arsenal, as he believes he will be better suited to Arsene Wenger’s side:

‘Eden and England would go very well together.

‘Tottenham is a good club even if, right now, there are some troubles with the coach.

‘Arsenal, it would be really pretty.’

He added:

‘Lille is quite similar to both in terms of game or mind.

‘After, I do not know if he is in touch with Arsenal but I think it would be the right club for him.’

Well I’ve said this quite a few times before, and I’ll say it one more time – I’d love Hazard to join Arsenal.

The only stumbling block we would face is his potential transfer fee, which is reportedly in the £40 million region.

And as for Cabaye. I must say, I love the way he’s trying to encourage Hazard to join us.

This isn’t the first time players have reportedly encouraged their close friends and fellow players to join certain clubs. Fernando Torres with Juan Mata at Chelsea and Per Mertesacker with Lukas Podolski at Arsenal spring to mind. So far, in these two cases, the persuasion has been successful.

If Hazard really does follow Cabaye’s advice, then perhaps he could try and lower his own transfer fee to try and join us. I’m not sure if that’s entirely possible, but if it is then that would be great.

If he does make the switch to The Emirates this summer, along with several of our other rumoured transfers then we will most certainly be title contenders next season.
