Arsenal to land German striker for £10M

|

Arsenal have signed FC Koln striker Lukas Podolski, according to the Daily Mirror.

The national newspaper suggests that the Gunners have agreed a fee with the Bundesliga outfit of £10 million for the German international, who will sign a five-year contract and pocket around £80k-a-week.

The 26-year-old was heavily linked with a January move to Arsenal, but the player refused to make the switch as he did not want to jeopardize his place and preparations with the German national squad ahead of Euro 2012.

Arsenal have yet to confirm the deal, but it seems almost certain that Podolski, who has netted 16 goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, will be playing for the Gunners next season.

We definitely needed a striker to come in as we have no other lethal forward in our squad than Robin van Persie, and I for one am happy to welcome a player who I highly rate and could do a great job for our club.

Hopefully the signing of Podolski will persuade RVP to commit his long-term future to us.

Fantastic news !!, but unless we see it on the club’s website we shouldn’t be over the moon. We have seen countless deals snatched from one club by another at the very last moments but great news nonetheless

Can will wait till the unveil ceremony of this our striker till we belief that we had truly signed him. Either we sign him or not arsenal needs to find a real solution to the striking department.
